Gone Girl Review


This movie adaptation of 2012 novel of the same name is directed by
David Fincher, with a screenplay by Gillian Flynn, whose also the author of the
original book.
It tells a story of a missing Missourian named Amy Dunn, widely known
as The Amazing Amy, the name taken from her parents book. The mistery of
missing Amy not only involving the police, but also volunteer, her supporters
and also the media. All the evidence strangely leads to her husband, Nick Dunn,
who don’t have any idea where she is. Nick should discover what’s happening
with Amy, their relationship, and digging into her past, while defensing himself
from all the misleading evidence, and proving himself unguilty.
In his 10th feature, Fincher succeed to translate the screenplay from
Gillian Flynn, in his first screenwriting gig, into a smart, wild, and suspenseful
mistery thriller, through his careful direction. He able to build mistery and
suspense, and peel it off with worth payoff. This supported by the amazing
performance by the cast, especially Rosamund Pike as Amy Dunn.
David Fincher is no stranger to the mistery thriller genre. And this film
proved him as the master of the genre.
