1. Plot Structure

Act 1: SET-UP

NORMAL LIFE OF THE CHARACTER- The main character of the movie is


Amy Elliotte Dunne who is famous writer because of her book
“Amazing Amy.” She had a husband who is also a writer Nick Dunne
where their love story at the first is full of happiness and
love.

THE MINOR/SUPPORT CHARACTERS- Margo Dunne also known as Go Dunne


is the twin sister of Nick Dunne who’s always at his side, Jim
Gilpin and Rhonda Boney are the detective who holds the case of
the disappearance of Amy Dunne, Rand and Marybeth Elliotte the
kind parents of Amy Ellitte Dunne.

INCITING INCIDENTS- One night, when Nick wants to have a night


out with his old companions and Amy please him to stay with her
but Nick refused it. And when Amy have a proposal to him that
she is ready to have a child but Nick started to angry, he ask
why they didn’t have this argument earlier rather than Nick
about to leave. The contention raises as they go down stairs and
when Nick is getting more angry he grab and throws Amy down and
she strikes the handrail post and falls from the ground.

CALL FOR ADVENTURE- Nick Dunne realize that his wife is a


psychopath person.

REFUSE/DENY-ACCEPTANCE- When Nick Dunne deny to his sister that


Amy don’t want to have a kid.

Act 2: CONFRONTATION

Honey Moon Stage- When Amy tell to her husband that she’s ready
to have kid and her husband answer that they’re not yet ready
until Nick grab and throw her into the floor and she started to
think that her husband want to kill her.

BACK STORY- Amy is the one who plays other role in the story
when the time that Nick started lay hands on her she become more
paranoid and she planned that she wants to frame up that her
husband kill her but she’s also the one who solved that problem.

MID POINT (MAJOR/MINOR CHARACTERS CONFLICT)- When Nick Dunne


want to divorced with Amy and she didn’t agree what to his
decision and when she also caught her husband with other girl in
the bar. And the time that Amy make her frame up with Nick.

FALL OUT OF THE CHARACTER- When Amy disappear Nick’s movement


is suspicious because his gestures is not like before.

FEEL HELPLESS- When the main character is in the cabin and she
is probably to leave her cabin because of her two neighbor who
despoil her money.

BACK TO THE B-STORY- When Amy Dunne kill his ex-boyfriend Desi
Collings and back to her husband just to save him to the death
sentence because of accusing him that he’s the one who kill his
wife.

ACT 3: RESOLUTION

FINAL BATTLE- When Nick was blame of his wife disappearance and
he was arrested in case because of the diary that the detective
found out that Nick was abusive to Amy and he had mistress. He’s
about to prison and sentence him death because of the
imputation.

RESULT- Amy forces Nick to undress to demonstrate that he's not


wearing a wire. She goes to the shower to wash off the abundant
measures of Desi's blood as yet covering her. In the shower with
Nick, she admits everything except that she frame up Desi and
killed him so as to come back to Nick as he had mentioned (and
probably additionally to cause her arrival to appear to be
chivalrous). Nick sleep in a different room and lock the door
when he fall a sleep.

FINAL- Nick and Amy show up together at the volunteer focus,


acting like a cheerfully rejoined couple. They are even set to
have a meeting with Ellen Abbott in their home. As they are
preparing, Amy gives Nick a blessing, which is a pregnancy test.
It's sure. Scratch first says it can't be his, and he'll request
a blood test. At that point he understands that she has
recovered his semen test, and is utilizing this as a ploy to
keep him with her by impregnating herself. The strain heightens
and he snatches her and hammers her head against the divider,
calling her a cunt. She discloses to him she's a similar cunt he
went fell in love with. Also, she's the main cunt that made him
feel like a man. Reluctantly, Nick joins Amy connected at the
hip for the meeting. During the meeting, Amy goads Nick and he
says they will be a parent soon, when Ellen seems excited and
embraces Amy. Margo later gets some answers concerning the
pregnancy and cried for her sibling, and is upset that he
intends to remain with her for the kid.

The film finishes up with a comparable shot as the opening, Nick


stroking Amy's hair once more, pondering to himself exactly what
she's reasoning.

2. IDENTIFYING THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Amy Elliotte Dunne described as a funny, smart and a good


writer. But, when she get married and who’s been try to abuse
with her husband and be cheated on she became more paranoid
about that her husband might kill her. She is almost a
psychopath she was able to lie, frame up, blackmail.

Nick Dunne described as a handsome and loving husband. But in


the other hand he also a liar he wanted to the victim of the
story he is also an unfaithful husband to his wife.

3. OTHER CHARACTER OF THE FILM AND THEIR SIGNIFICANT TO THE PLOT

The other character of the film was Margo Dunne the twin sister
of Nick who is always in his side through ups and downs. Jim
Gilpin and Rhonda Boney the detective who holds the case of
Amy’s disappearance. Tanner Bolt the lawyer of Nick Dunne. Rand
and Marybeth Elliotte the parents of Amazing Amy.

4. THE DIFFERENCE OF BOOK ACT 3 AND FILM ACT 3


The difference of Book Act 3 and in the Film Act 3 is that in
the book it is stating all the resolution of the conflict and
in the film is just they get what is the most important part
of the story. I think that it much better in the Book.

5. AMY DUNNE AS A CHARACTER SHAPE

Yes, Amy Dunne shape her own destiny. She is trying to change
her situation in order to save her husband.
