ACCEPTED

“Never stop learning because life never stops teaching”. This simple quotation conveys us that we should aim to learn
continuously and do not be contented to the things we only know as life always gives a lesson to remember. The movie entitled
“Accepted” is a touching and interesting story in the sense that it is really experiencing by some of us nowadays. A story of
youths who cannot go to college due to failed entrance exam.

Bartleby “B” Gaines who created the school named South Harmon Institute Technology together with the great help of
his friends, this fake school made possible to exist with a hundreds of student enrolled. A school that lacks of facilities, no
proper curriculum, and no qualified teacher will never be considered as a school of learning. But nevertheless, due to rejections
from many colleges and because of differences, they end up in this fake school. In fact, even if it is not a real college, there are
still advantages being seen in this story. First, this movie encourages everyone to embrace their individuality, differences, and
uniqueness that can never be the same in a real school. In the movie, they do not judge each other because despite of their
differences, they believe that they have their own passion, goals, dreams that they want to work hard in order to achieve. In
short, the movie encouraged them to follow their passion. Shaping our life isn’t about finding ourselves. It’s about creating
ourselves. The message of allowing them to do the creativity on their own is another advantage seen. When we go to college,
we cannot do the things we want because there is a curriculum that was followed and our passions in the things we desire was
not included. There are many things in life that we can learn but a school cannot give us this kind of opportunity. Lastly, this
movie voices to not let rejection be a wall that hinders our path to reach our goal in life. It gives chance to the youth who cannot
enter and go to college. It also bring happiness as one student say, “When I got accepted here, it was the first time my parents
ever said they were proud of me”. Though it’s a fake college, still we can see on their faces that there is a place for them to
continue learning.

Despite of these advantages limitations still exist. Being a self-proclaim learner, we cannot fully acquire the knowledge
without the guide and supervision of a real teacher. Embracing our passion in life is a great opportunity for us to develop at the
early period of our life yet it is not really enough because if we are aiming for a true education, it must have a curriculum to
follow which will lead, enhance and nurture us regarding to our capabilities in some other aspect for our professional growth.
Moreover, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to reach our dreams if we do not seek real institution.

As quoted above, it voices that the most important thing was there is the willingness, courage, determination and
positive outlook in life to learn. In the movie showed they may have differences in many aspect but have one thing in common,
that was their desire to learn.
