One of the keys to getting suggestions to stick is to craft them well. Not all sug-
gestions are phrased in a useful way. Below you will find examples of ‘well-crafted’
suggestions. Feel free to use these suggestions in your trance work or as inspiration
when creating your own. For more information on crafting suggestions, watch the
video entitled, ‘Crafting Suggestions – do’s and don’ts’.
2 10 Words or less: No war and peace! Make sure you’re suggestions are
condensed, or summarized, to 10 words or less. One useful method is to start
off with a detailed description of the change you’re looking to create and
then summarize it into 10 words or less. You can even take this further and
condense it down to a single word, phrase or symbol. Remember, ‘detail’ is a
more cognitive aspect of our experience; ‘vagueness’ and ‘ambiguity’ is the
language of the unconscious.
3 Presuppose the change: It’s not always necessary, but, most of the time, you
want to assume the change you’d like to make in the suggestion.
4 Make it semantically packed: There are certain words and phrases that pack
more emotional punch than others. This is, of course, subjective, and will vary
depending on the individual. If you include positive semantically packed
words or phrases your suggestions will have more natural ‘oomph’ behind
them. Examples of these could be: love, passion, trust, connection, belief,
strength, power, embrace, solidify.
Please note: Some of these do go over the 10 words or less tip! That’s okay pro-
viding they are still a summary.
