Applying the basics of image editing and photo effects

•Launch GIMP and open the photo that


needs to be lighten.

•Click "Colors" from the menu bar and


then select "Levels" from the drop-down list

•Click and drag the middle triangular


slider in the "Input Levels" section to the left
to lighten the photo. Click the check box

click "OK" once pleased with the results.

•Click "Colors" from the menu bar and


then click "Brightness-Contrast" from the
drop-down list and then drag the
"Contrast" slider to the right.

•Click "OK" once pleased with the results.

then click "Brightness-Contrast" from the

and click "File" from the menu bar and
then click "Save as" to save the photo as a
new file.

•Launch GIMP and open the photo that


needs to be cropped and resized.

•Select “Crop” tool in GIMP window and


select the area to be cropped

•To resize the image, click “Image” then
“Rescale Image”

•Enter the new width and height and then


click Scale.

•Save file using File > Save as.

• Select “Free Select” tool in GIMP window


and select the cake

•Click “Select” from the menu bar and

• Select "Gaussian Blur" from the drop-


down list and input 0.95

•Save file using File > Save as.


•Launch GIMP and open the photo

• Select “Free Select” tool in GIMP window


and select the left iris

•Click "Colors" from the menu bar and

"Contrast" and “Brightness” slider to the
left.

•Repeat on the right iris

•Save file using File > Save as.

and select the teeth

•Click "Colors" from the menu bar and


then click "Brightness-Contrast" from the

•Click "OK" once pleased with the results


and click "File" from the menu bar and
then click "Save as" to save the photo as a

hover pointer on "Artistic"

•From the drop-down list, select “Oilify

•Click "Filters" from the menu bar and then


hover pointer on "Light and Shadow"

•From the drop-down list, select “Vignette”


and then adjust the settings on “Radius”

then click "Save as" to save the photo as a

•Launch GIMP and open the photo

•Click the "Healing" tool from the GIMP


window bar

•Click on the unwrinkled skin while holding


down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard.
GIMP 2.10 Release the "Ctrl" key, and then click on
9 the wrinkle. This will overlap the texture of
the wrinkled skin with the unwrinkled skin.

•Continue the action until satisfied with


the results

•Repeat on other areas with wrinkled skin

•Save file using File > Save as.

•Launch GIMP and open the photo

•Duplicate layer on “Layers” dialog

•Select the duplicated layer on “Layers”


GIMP 2.10 dialog then click “Colors” on the menu
and select “Invert”

•Click “Filters” on the menu tab and then


hover on “Distorts”. Select “Value
Propagate” in the drop-down list. On the
dialog box select the “More black (smaller
value)” radio button by clicking on it. Click

OK once done

•Repeat previous step until satisfied with


the results

•Desaturate both layers by selecting


“Colors” on the menu tab and hover
pointer on “Desaturate”

•Choose “Desaturate” and leave default


settings and click “OK”

•Save file using File > Save as.
