1. What is a calorie? A calorie is the amount of heat needed to raise the


temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius

2. What is a calorimeter? A calorimeter is an object used for calorimetry, or the


process of measuring the heat of chemical reactions or physical changes as
well as heat capacity
3. Why is it important to determine the caloric values of different foods?
Because, everyone requires different amounts of energy each day, depending
on age, sex, size, and activity level.
4. How is the energy in food released by the human body?
Calories in food provide energy in the form of heat so that our bodies can
function.
5. How many calories should a normal individual, age 16, consume in one day?
2,400 calories

6. Why are we currently confronted with an obesity problem?


Because people is eating huge amounts off calories
7. What measures might the government take to stem the obesity problem?
They quit the food that has high amounts of calories and introduce more
organic food
8. What foods tend to be very high in calories?
Fast Food
9. What kinds of foods tend to be low in calories?
Organic Food
10. What part does or should exercise play in this scenario?
Exercise help with the process of burning the calories in our body
