2. Which teaching methods are most effective in encouraging active participation by the learner?
- The most effective teaching methods in encouraging active participation is Role Play.
Learners will actively participate in an unrehearsed dramatization. This technique is
intended to arouse feelings and elicit emotional responses in the learners.

3. Which teaching methods are best for learning cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills?

- One-to-One Instruction is best for learning cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills.
This method is formally or informally that involves face-to-face delivery of information.
Provides opportunity for immediate feedback to be shared between the educator and the
learner.

4. What are the general principles that can be applied to teaching no matter what method is chosen?

- Some general principles that should be applied in teaching are; giving positive
reinforcement, project an attitude of acceptance and sensitivity, be organized and give
direction, elicit and give feedback.

5. Which major questions (at least three) should educators ask themselves when evaluating the
effectiveness of a teaching method? Arrange the questions as to its importance for evaluation.

- “Is the learning activity accessible and acceptable to the learners who have been
targeted?”
“Is the teaching method efficient given the time, energy, resources available in relation to
the number of learners the educator is trying to reach?”
“Does the teaching method help the learners to achieve the stated objectives?”

Questions on Case Study (page 500):

1. If professor want to encourage learners to actively participate in their courses which other
teaching methods can they select?

- Role model is one of the teaching method they can select. This method can help new
health professionals develop critical thinking competencies and interpersonal skills as
well as assist them to assume the responsibilities and values of the profession with which
they identity.

2. An evaluation of any educational program is vitally important to determine the effectiveness of


the teaching method(s) used. Which five major questions should be asked to determine if a
teaching method is appropriate?

- “Is the learning activity accessible and acceptable to the learners who have been
targeted?” this question should be asked to determine what teaching method should
select. As education program is suitable for this question and role model for the teaching
method.
