Unbuilt Project for a private house. Excerpt from Envisioning Architecture catalogue (essay by Peter Reed): "With the
Doesburg, the prolific writer, painter, and cofounder of the avant-garde Dutch movement de Stijl, promoted a new orde
utopian quest for a universal ideal, cleansed of social and artistic conventions but not without moral and spiritual dime
predicated a formal language of abstraction on the rectangle, primary colors (red, blue, and yellow), and asymmetrica
suggest what a de Stijl environment might look like, van Doesburg enlisted the assistance of the architect Cornelis va
men mounted a landmark exhibition at Léonce Rosenberg's Galerie L'Effort Moderne in Paris. This so-called "Contra-
works exhibited. The Contra-Construction is not a study for a specific building but a meditation on a new kind of archit
Serving as a demonstration of the ideas in the artists' manifestos, the composition-an axonometric placed diagonally o
understanding their aims. The construction seems to float on the sheet, divorced from time or place. The high vantage
at once, but we have no clear understanding of front, side, or back, or of inside and out. Horizontal and vertical planes
asymmetrical volumes around a central open core. Color is a constructive element, applied to elements running the he
construction. The planes have an atectonic character, being divorced from a supporting function. The spatial relations
composition underscore van Doesburg's overarching goal: to liberate humanity from material things through a new for

Description
A prototype of this house was assembled by Beech Aircraft near its plant in Wichita, Kansas in 1946. "Buckminster Fu
House" was developed at the end of the Second World War. Its original conception was that of a light-weight, prefabri
military personnel, which he called "Airbarac." It could be easily transported to a desired location and there be quickly
used in every climate from the tropics to the Arctic. With the coming of peace, the designer developed the basic idea i
that would take advantage of all of these virtues and would make it possible on the one hand for thousands of veteran
comfortable houses and on the other for war industries to easily adapt to the peacetime needs of the country. The "W
because it was intended to be manufactured by the Beech Aircraft Corporation in Wichita, Kansas - contains an entry,
kitchen and laundry, two bedrooms and two baths, and was intended to sell, fully equipped, for $6500. Its components

because the roof and walls, rather than being built up in the conventional manner from the foundation, are hung by ca

Description
The construction of this unique Temple began in 1882, and one year later Antoni Gaudi was appointed Project Directo
over 40 years until his death in 1926. The temple has three facades (named: 'Nativity', 'Passion' and 'Glory'), each bea
of the twelve bell towers of the facades, dedicated to the Apostles and having a height exceeding 100 meters, are alre
