The table displays the average monthly rainfall for the year in five cities of the world.
Summaries the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.
You should write at least 150 words.

The table summarises information about the average rainfall in 5 cities on a monthly basis for
one year. On the columns there are the average monthly rainfalls for the 12 months, while the
rows discuss the average rainfalls in each city.
The second raw plots the monthly rainfall of Tokyo. There is a steep decrease between February
and March, the rainfall getting from 58 mm to 100 mm. After that there is a slight increase, until
June, where the all-time high average of 190 mm is reached. After June, there is a small decrease
in July and after that an increase until October. After October has ended, the precipitation level
registers a steep decrease, getting to 90 mm in November and 50 mm in December.
The city which registered the highest level of rainfall out of all 5 is Hong Kong, getting to 380
mm in August and having the highest precipitation rate out of all 5 round the year, while the city
with the lowest level is Cairo.
The sixth column discusses the average rainfall of June, the precipitations getting from 5 mm in
Cairo, to 364 mm in Hong Kong. The overall average of June is of 144 mm. The last column,
illustrating December, has the lowest average monthly rainfall rate of all months. The values
getting from 0 mm to 210 mm.
The forth row plots the monthly rain of the city Cairo. From January till May there is a decrease
in precipitation getting from 7 mm to 2 mm. After that there is a steep increase, until August,
where 27 mm are registered. After that no precipitations are registered until next year.
The most constant average rainfall values are in London, where precipitations vary from 50 to
80. 9 out of 12 months have rainfall values between 45 and 68.
In conclusion, the trend is that of increase in precipitation during summer and decrease during
winter. The precipitation numbers are the highest in tropical climates and the lowest in arid/
desert climates.

TASK 2
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
Many people today, especially in the developed world, are choosing to have
fewer children, or none at all.
Why is this happening, and do you think it is a good trend?
Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own
knowledge or experience.
You should write at least 250 words.

How would you feel as a woman if you had a job or maybe 2 and 5 children at home waiting for
you to cook, help them with homework, support them emotionally, go out shopping and other
tiring activities. Well, you surely would be admitted after just one week of that to a psychiatric
facility.
Almost all people in developed societies choose not to have many children because they want to
focus on their career. The developed countries are profoundly materialised and more and more
women which were supposed to procreate and take care of the household, go to work. These
families want a better social status and enough money to administer themselves in a society
where even milk costs more than what an average person is paid hourly.
Also, the empowerment of women left an important mark in what the attribution of a female are.
After 1970s more and more women gave up their housewife status to independence. Before that,
what women had to do was to procreate and to clean, and in rich household not even to clean.
The emancipation of women lead to a self-concerned mother, which wanted just to be an equal to
a male, rather than reproduce.
In Arabic, Indian societies or poor ones in general, where women are restrained usually by
religion, more children are present per family. These families put the act of faith and the belief in
large families in front of the poverty, not thinking about what kind of education children will
have or if their diet is rich enough in proteins and vitamins. The developed countries have
parents which want their children to have everything they desire, so they put the financial plan
first. They realise that being able to dress, feed and educate one child is better than not being able
to do so for 5 kids or more.
Also, the birth rate is higher in poor countries because of the lack of contraception methods. It is
human nature to reproduce, people can’t help it… So, people not having these methods,
sometimes don’t have much to say on the birth of a child.
In conclusion, because of greater medical resources or other reasons such as emancipation of
women, consumerism, need of greater social and financial status or inability to provide all that is
needed for a child in a modern society, families in developed countries choose not to have more
children or even one. If I were a woman, I would think about the responsibilities a child comes
with, before procreating.
