Reading 01:

Professor: Where do you work, Paul?

Paul: I work for a computer company in San Francisco, but I live in Oakland.

Professor: Are you married?

Paul: Yes, I have three daughters

Professor: So, you travel from Oakland to San Francisco every day?

Paul: Yes, I travel 30 miles to work!

Professor: Tell me about a typical day.

Paul: Well, I get up at six o`clock and I take a shower and I get dressed. I don´t see my
daughters. They´re in bed.

Professor: Do you have breakfast?

Paul: No, I don´t have time. I have to get the train to San Francisco at seven thirty.

Professor: What time do you get to San Francisco?

Paul: The train usually arrives at quarter after eight. Then I walk from the station to
work. That´s about a half an hour.

Professor: What time do you start work?

Paul: At 9:00 I start work, and I have a coffee. I drink about six cups of coffee a day.

Professor: Do you go out for lunch?

Paul: No, I´m very busy. I have a sandwich in the office.

Professor: Do you like your job?

Paul: It´s ok, but I work a lot.

Professor: What time do you finish work?

Paul: I finish work at 5:30. Then I walk to the station again to get the train.
Professor: Do you have dinner with your family?

Paul: No, I don´t. My family has dinner at six, but I´m on the train then. I don´t get
home until quarter to eight.

Professor: What do you do after dinner?

Paul: After dinner, I sit and watch TV. I´m very tired. I usually fall asleep in front of
the TV.

Professor: What time do you go to bed?

Paul: About 11:00.

My favorite time of day is 10 o´clock at night, because it´s when I finish practice, and I
can start to relax and enjoy the evening. My favorite day of the week is Thursday
because I don´t work on Friday, so for me the weekend begins on Thursday night. My
favorite month is July because it´s the month when I have my vacation. My favorite
season is the spring. One of my hobbies is gardening and my garden is really beautiful
in the spring. My favorite holiday is Christmas. My family lives very far away, and it´s
the only time when I can see them.

My favorite time of the day is the morning because I get up early and feel full of energy.
My favorite day of the week is Friday because it´s the end of the week, and I can go
home for the weekend. My favorite month is December because here in Thailand it´s
when you can see a lot of flowers. My favorite season is winter because in the winter it
´s a nice temperature, and it´s when I feel comfortable. The summer here is very hot.
My favorite holiday is the Thai New Year in April. It´s a water festival, and people
throw water at each other, and everyone is very happy.
