lazy to type it so i am using ur answer) -

When Stone first started his newspaper in 1875, the

price was a penny. Circulation rose rapidly at
first, then leveled off. Then sales started lagging.
When Stone investigated why fewer people were buying
his paper, he discovered the problem had nothing to
do with its quality. Pennies were in short supply.
Stone decided he had to do something. First he
traveled to the United States mint in Philadelphia
and brought about the transfer of barrels of pennies
to Chicago. The problem then became how to get the
pennies into circulation. So Stone persuaded Chicago
merchants to sponsor "odd-price sales," during which
they would sell their merchandise for a penny under
the regular price. The odd prices did the trick.
People had pennies again, and Stone's paper
flourished. And that is why store items today cost
"$8.99," or $12.99," instead of even dollar amounts.

The history of ARPA leading up to the ARPANET.
A climate of pure research surrounded the entire
history of the ARPANET. The Advanced Research Projects
Agency was formed with an emphasis towards research,
and thus was not oriented only to a military product.
The formation of this agency was part of the U.S.
reaction to the then Soviet Union's launch of
Sputnikin 1957. ( ARPA draft, III-6 ). ARPA was
assigned to research how to utilize their investment
in computers via Command and Control Research (CCR).
Dr. J.C.R. Licklider was chosen to head this effort.
Licklider came to ARPA from Bolt, Beranek and Newman,
(BBN) in Cambridge, MA in October 1962. (ARPA draft,
III-6) The very first site to receive an IMP was UCLA.
Professor Leonard Kleinrock of UCLA was involved with
much of the early development of the ARPANET. His work
consisted of understanding queueing theory and as such
was one of the first computer scientists working on
the ARPANET who was dealing with how to measure what
was happening as the network would function. This made
it natural to make sure that UCLA received the first
node as it would be important to initiate the network
from the site which would measure the networks
activity. In order for the statistics to be correct
and for analysis purposes - the first site had to be
the measurement site. Sure enough UCLA was assigned to
be the Network Measurement Center (NMC).[1]

Q1. This person first hit the spotlight in 1959 and hails from Willows, Wisconsin. Has sisters
called Kelly and Stacie. This person's career started off as a model but was also thrice involved in
space programs in 1965, 86 and 94. In between this person was also involved in the presidential
race in '92. In '98 this person launched a sports fashion line. Just name.
Ans : Barbie...you know like beach Barbie. Doctor Barbie so also president Barbie.

Easy one to start off. Connect these phrases - Team, Look Alike and Bitten Heroes.
A: At the French and British GPs, these phrases adorned the cars and team suits of
the McLaren Mercedes, BAR and Jordan teams respectively due to the ban on
tobacco advertising. They replaced West, Lucky Strike and Benson & Hedges...
Ram Kiran pointed out that alcohol advertising was also banned at these
races. Hence 'Visions' replaced Veltin's beer on the Williams livery and 'Best's'
replaced Becks beer on the Jaguar cars...

During the free practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix in 1979, driving his car
around the circuit, XXX suddenly decided that he was no longer interested in 'driving
around in circles'. He pulled into the pit-lane and told his team boss that he was
retiring - now. He left the sport and went on to set up his own airline, for flying was his
second passion. He did make a return to the sport later though, and even won the World
Championship one more time before retiring for good. Anyway, back to the race. The
team he was driving for was left in a lurch with his departure. YYY, the team boss, out of
exasperation, and probably even as a joke, asked someone from his pit crew to make an
announcement in the track PA system asking whether anyone could drive an F1 car. It
so happened that ZZZ, a former F3 and Aurora F1 driver who had quit racing because he
was not getting any openings in F1, was among the spectators that day. Half an hour later
he was strapped into the car, all set to go. He qualified 19th and finished 7th in the
race, just outside the points dumbfounding everyone. YYY immediately got ZZZ to sign
a 1-year contract with the team. Now, for 1 point - identify XXX, YYY and ZZZ or name
any two for half a point.
A:
XXX - Niki Lauda who left racing and founded LaudaAir only to return due to
financial difficulties.
YYY - Bernie Ecclestone who was then boss of Brabham racing
ZZZ - Ricardo Zunino, a Brazilian driver who dazzled in the qualifying session in
the following GP as well, and after that suffered a string of flops before eventually
getting fired....

The son of a trawler captain, he dropped out of school at the age of 16 and went to work
at a local gasworks. His passion was motorcycle scrambling and he began competing in
the post-war era. As machinery was scarce, he used to buy and sell motorcycle spare
parts, doing the business during his lunch break. Together with a friend, he built his
business into one of Britain's largest motorcycle dealers. In 1949, he tried his hand at
four-wheeled racing in the 500cc Formula 3 series but after a big accident at Brands
Hatch, in which he ended up hitting a car in the car park behind Paddock Hill Bend, he
gave up. Later he did attempt a comeback and made an appearance in
exactly one F1 race for the Connaught team - he did not complete the race. Who?
A: F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone
