Terms & Conditions

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The REAKTOR Potenziale | Open Call is to be advertised worldwide and
awarded regardless of nationality. The project concepts are to be submitted
using the relevant form posted at www.reaktor.art.
Past submissions to a previous REAKTOR Potenziale | Open Call do not
preclude the applicant from further submissions.
All submissions are to be made exclusively using the application form featu-
red on the Reaktor homepage.

Research visit and concept realisation


The chosen artists will be invited to implement their submitted concept as
part of a fortnight’s stay and then showcase it to the public in an exhibition.
A budget of up to EUR 3,500.- is available for the production of the exhibiti-
on. Travel expenses and board & lodging will be paid for by the REAKTOR.

1. Jury & Selection Process
The concepts to be implemented will be selected by the REAKTOR team.
The REAKTOR team will justify its choice of project to be realised. No corre-
spondence whatsoever will be entered into with the jury and/or the selecti-

Similarly, any analogue materials submitted will not be returned. The same
Terms & Conditions and the same rules will then apply as with an online
submission.

2. Exhibition
The work will be presented to the public following the opportunity to con-

for any damage that may be caused by the public or any third parties not as-
sociated with the REAKTOR. If prefabricated components or equipment are
to be delivered to the REAKTOR as part of the setup process, the REAKTOR
assumes no liability for the transportation to and from the REAKTOR.
The exhibition is to be staged on the REAKTOR premises. A production bud-

get of up to EUR 3,500.- will be provided in co-ordination with the REAKTOR


team. Any overruns of the production budget finalised before the realisation

phase will not be borne by the REAKTOR.

When implementing their works the artists are liable for maintaining the
REAKTOR premises intact, along with its fixtures and furnishings.
The REAKTOR associates events and contents of its own in-house pro-
gramme. Where applicable, the REAKTOR therefore reserves the right to
incorporate within a broader event context the concept realised as part of
the REAKTOR Potenziale | Open Call.
The REAKTOR does not undertake to ensure the conservation of the works
created once the exhibition has ended. Separate agreements may be rea-
ched depending on the size and structure of the works. Where applicable,
the artists will be given the opportunity to dismantle and remove their work
within a reasonable amount of time. If the dismantling and/or removal of
the work from the premises is not carried out within the time period speci-
fied above, the REAKTOR will arrange for the works to be removed from the
REAKTOR premises at the artists’ expense.
The artists are to hand over to the REAKTOR a signed sketch, documentati-

on pack or similar to enable the REAKTOR to establish a physical collection
of its annual open calls.

4. Prerequisites for Participation in the REAKTOR

• Submitters must hold all the rights to the proposed concept and gua-

rantee that no other parties hold any rights thereto that might subse-
quently conflict with the submission and its implementation.
• Collectives and/or working groups are entitled to submit their concepts
in the same way as individuals. Participants in group submissions may
also submit their own individual concept.

• Only one concept may be submitted within a given submission period.


Once submitted, selected projects may no longer be withdrawn.
• Together with the submission the REAKTOR is granted all rights of use
to all the images of the artworks for the purposes of advertising, pub-
licising, and documenting the exhibition. This also applies without any
limitation in time to any subsequent REAKTOR almanacs and retrospec-

• Amendments and/or additions to the projects cannot be made once the


projects have been submitted.

• Submission to the REAKTOR Potenziale | Open Call is free of charge.


The REAKTOR will email a confirmation that a valid submission has been
received. The submission documents will be retained and incorporated
into the REAKTOR archives.
• Where travel expenses are assumed, the principle of proportionality will
apply. Such expenses will be assumed only subject to prior consultation
with the REAKTOR.

5. Confidentiality
We are bound by responsible data management and the fundamental princi-
ples set out in the European General Data Protection Regulation. We under-
take to treat personal data with absolute confidentiality. Any personal data
received as part of the submission process will not be passed on, sold on, or
used by a third party. The data will be used exclusively for the purposes of

the Open Call decision and to inform the artists about any amendments or
additions.

6. Validity
The overall validity of these Conditions of Participation will not be affected
if any of its individual points or clauses becomes invalid. Any invalid point will
be replaced by a valid and admissible point that comes closest in meaning Eigentümer: Bernhard Kammel

and purpose to that of the abandoned point.
The court in Vienna competent in the matter is agreed as the place of juris-
diction.
