A. GENERAL REOUIREMENTS
A I ScoDe of Work

This section shall include the mobihization and demobilization of Contractor's plant,
equipment, materials and employees to the site; constn]ction of Contractor's office and
facilities; compliance with the contract requirements.

This section shall include the furnishing of labor, materials, transportation, tools, supplies,
plant, equipment and appurtenance to complete satisfactorily the construction of the proposed
subprQject.

A.2 Mobilization and Demobilization

The contractor upon receipt of the notice to proceed shall mobilize and transport his plant,
equipment, materials and employees to the site and demobilize or remove the same at the
completion of the subproject.

Field Office and Temt}orarv Facilities

A.2.I Field office

During the performance of the contract, the Contractor shall constnict and maintain a
separate field office and facilities at the site of the work at which the Contractor and
the LGU shall be holding office, while the work is in progress. The location,
dinensions and layout of such field office shall be subject to approval by the LGU.

A.2.2 TemDorarv Power

The Contractor shall provide and maintain temporary electrical service including
installation of temporary power and lighting within the constnichon site. The
electhcal service shall be adequate in capacity to supply power to construction tools
and equipment without over-loading the temporary facilities and shall be made
available to supply power, lighting and constniction operations of all trades. AIl
temporary equipment and wiring for power and lighting shall be in accordance with
the applicable provisions of the local governing code. At the completion of the
construction work all temporary wiring, lighting, equipment and devices shall be
removed.

A.2.3 Temoorarv Toilet

The Contractor shall provide and maintain in sanitary condition enclosed toilet for the
use of all construction personnel located within the contract lindts, complete with
fixtures, water and sewer connections and all appurtenances. Installation shall be in
accordance with all applicable codes and regulations of the local authorities having
jurisdiction thereof Upon compledon of the work, temporary toilet and their
appurtenances shall be removed.

A.2.4 Temoorarv water service

The Contractor shall provide and maintain temporary water supply services, complete
with necessary connections and apputenances. Installed water supply lines shall be
used as a source of water for construction purposes subject to the approval of the
Project Manager. The contractor chall pay the cost of on, maintenance and
restoration of the water system. All temporary water service including equipment and
piping chall be removed xpon compledon of the work and all won out and damaged
parts of the permanent system shall be replaced and restored in fast class condition
equal to new.

A.2.5 Security

The Contractor shall provide sufficient seeurity in the constniction site to prevent
illegal entry or wchc danaged during nights; holidays and other pchod wlien work is
not executed; and during working hours. The Contractor shall take aniple precautions
against foe by keeping away flammable materials, and ensure that such materials are
properly handled and stored. Fires shall not be built within the area of constmction,
excqu when pemitted by the Project Manager.

A.3 Compliance with Contract Rcauirements

A.3. I Control of on-Site constniction

Prior to the start of any definable feature of the work, the Contractor must perfomi the
necessary inspeedon to include as follows:

(I) Review of Contract Documents to make sure that materials, equipment and
products have been tested, submitted and approved.

(2) Physical examination of materials and equipment to assure its confomity to the
specifications, plans, shop drawing and other data.

(3) As soon as the work has been started the Contractor shall conduct initial
inspechon to check and review the workmanship in compliance with the contract
requirements for a particular item of wori[.

(4) The Contractor shall perfom these inspections on a regular basis to assure
condnuing compnance with the contract requirements until compledon of a particular
typeofwotlc.

A3.2 Pre{onstruction conference

Within the pchod of issuance of NTP and official contract start the Contractor must
attend pro-constmction confuence as directed for the purpose of discussing the
execution of work: construction, envirormental, social, institutional and
financial/accounting requirements.

A3.3 Progress meedngs shall be called upon by the following for the purpose of discussing
the implementafion of the work:

(I ) When called upon by the Project Manager or his representative for the purpose of
discussing the cnecution of wchc Contractor's matedal men or vendors whose
presence is necessary or requested must attend progress mectings. Each of such
meeting shall be held at the time and place designated by the Project Manager or his
representatve. Decisions and instnictions agreed in these meetings should be binding
and conclusive on the contract. Minutes of this meedng shall be recorded and
reasonable number of copies shall be famished to the Contractor for distribution to
various matchals men and vendus involved.
(2) The Contractor may also call for a progress meeting for the purpose of
coordinating, expediting and scheduling the work. In such meeting Contractor's
material men or vendors, whose presence is necessary or requested are required to
attend.

A.3.4 Progress Report

The Contractor shall prepare and submit progress repor(s to the project lnanager every
30 days after the start of the project up to its completion, showing the work completed,
work remaining to be done, status of constniction equipment and materials at the site,
as stipulated in Section 3 of the Conditions of contract.

A.3.5 SurvevData

The Contractor shall layout his work from established based lines and benchmark
indicated in the drawing and shall be responsible for all measurement in comection
therewith. The C`ontractor shall furnished, at his own expense, all stakes, templates.
platforms, equipment, tools` materials and labor as may be required in laying out any
part of the work, out of established base lines and bench mark, lf shall be the
responsibility of the Contractor to maintain and preserve all stakes and other marks
until he is authorized to remove them. If the Contractor through his negligence prior
to the authorized removal destroys such marks, they shall be replaced at the expense of
the Contractor.

A.3.6 Shoo Drawim2

The Contractor chal] submit and furnish shop drawings and samples accompanied with
the provision of the Conditions of contract. The term "Shop Drawing" as used herein
shall be understood to include detailed design calculations, construction drawings,
lists, graphs, supplemental specifications and others.

(1) Transmittal forms shall be filled out in typewritten or ink with no alterations or
inter line actions unless initialized and dates before submittal. Shop drawings shall be
submitted as the sane size as the contract drawing when practicable, but in no case it
shall exceed dimension of the contract drawings. The Contractor shall make
prelininary check of all shop drawings for compliance with the contract documents
and he shall stanip each print with statement of compliance with the requirements.
The contractor may authorize his supplier to deal directly with the Project Manager
with regard to shop drawings, however ultimate responsibility for accuracy and
completeness in the submittal shall remain with the Contractor.

(2) The said shop drawing and transmittal shall be submitted at time sufficiently early,
to allow review of the saine by the Project Manager and to accommodate the rate of
construction progress required under the contract. The contractor shall submit print
copies of show drawing with transmitta] forms, and copies of brochures with
transmittal forms as required by the Project Manager.

(3) Any shop drawing and samples submitted not accompanied by transmittal forms
of where all apphical>le items on the forms are not completed would be returned for
resubmission. The Project Manager who will check and evaluate mentioned shop
drawing would retain print copy for his file and return the rest to the Contractor with
notation. Returned show drawing marked "No Exceptions taken" or "Make
CoITections Noted.', means formal revision of said drawings will not be required. If it
is marked "Amend-Resubmit" or "Rejected-Resubndt", the Contractor shall revise
said drawing and shall submit revised drawing to the Project Manager.
(4) The Projeet Manager shall process the submission and indicate the appropriate
achon on the shop drawing and transmittal forms. Consfroedon of an itm shall not be
commenced before the Project Manager has rewiownd the pednent chop drawing and
rettmed it to the Contractor, malted as mentioned above. Revisions indicated on
shop drawing shall be considaed as changes necessary to meet the requirements of the
contract drawings and apecifications, and shall not be taken as the bases of clains for
erfro `rock. The Corfuractor shall have no ctin for damages or Chctension of time due
to any dctay, resulting from having Contractors make the required revisions, unless
review by the Project Manager was delayed beyond reasonable pchod of time and
unless the Contractor can establish that such dday in revision resulted in delay of the
prQject.

(5) Resubmitted procedure shall fonour the same procedure as the initial submittal.

A3.7 Construedon photomanhs

The Contractor shall take photographs diring the progress of the work once a month,
all taken wlicre directed by the Project Manager. At the ooxpledon of the prQject
final photographs shall be sent to the I.GU or Project Manager. The photographs shall
be neatly labeled, dated. and identified in a little box in the lower right hand comer,
showing the date of exposLne, prQject name, location and direedon of view.

All negatives shall be retained dy the Contractor undl compledon of the work at which
time they shall become the property of the LGU.

A.3.8 CleaninEun

The Contractor shall at all times keep the construedon area including storage are used
by him free from accumulations of waste marfual or rubbish. Upon compledon of
constn)ction, the Contractor shall leave the wchc and pretnises in clean, neat
wndman!ike conditions satisfactory to the LGU.

A3.9 Documents to be submitted

The Conhactor chall submit the following dociments prior to final payment and
before issuance of final oedfica(e of payment in accolidance with the provisions of the
conditions of contract.
(I) The giiarantee required by the Conditions of Contract and any
other cactended gumtees stated in the technical sections of the specificchons.

(2) A sot of As-Built drawing shall be submitted showing


accurate record of changes or deviations from the contract
documents and the chop drawings indicating the work as
actually installed. Records shall be arranged in order, in
accordance with the various sections of the specifications and
propedy indexed with certificafrolis of endorsement thercof
that each of the revised priut of the drawings and
apecifications are complete and accurate. Prior to the
appricafron for fiml payment, and as a condition to its
approval by the Project Manager of LGU. the Contractor shall
deliver the reeords, drawings, and speeificafions arranged in
proper order, indeed and endorsed as herein specified.
A.4 Method of Measiirgnent and Basis of Pal/meat

Cost incuned in providing and maintaining Condactor's field office, ¢mporary light and
power, temporary toilet water and seculty sewices, including cost of mobilization and
demobilizedon, and cost incurred in the compliance of contract requirements shall not be
measured and paid separately, sane shall be deemed to be included in the cost of other items
wchb as part of the Contractor's coustruedon ovcheads.

I.0 STEEL RESERvom


1 . 1 GENERAL

A The Contractor shall fumich. falricate, and instal) all stect and miscellaneous metalwocks
as specified herein and as shorrm in the drawings. Mscellancous metalwolk is defined as
all items required to be fabricated from stnict`ml steel shapes, plates, bars, and their
products. He shall provide the necessary labor, supervision, tools, matchals, supplies and
apputenances for the proper construedon and operation of the elevated steel reservoir.
The Contractor shall accomplice the work in complete and finished manner and insure the
highest quality of wofkmanchip in accordance with the drawings and specificalon and to
the satisfaedon of the Engineer.

8. Stnicttml steel straps, plates, bars and their products chall confom with the " Standard
Specifications for Stnictural Steel" (ASTM Designafron A36

C. Unless othrfuse sho`rm, an miscellaneous metalwocks of fabricated steel shall be


galvanized after fabrication in accordance with Clause 4.3. Uhless otherwise indicated,
stainless steel mctalwock shall be t)pe 18-8 stainless steel, Items fabricated on stainless
chat not be galvanized.

D. All materials to be used shall be new, previously unused, and in first class condition. Steel
materials of unidentified analysis may be used provided they are tested and properly
certified by a qualified testing ]abomory.

E. Painting of all steel mctalwork, unless otherwise speeified, shall be in accordance with
Clause 14-"Painting and Coafrog."

F. Testing and disinfecting shall undertaken as specified in Clause 12-Pressure and Leakage
Testhg and disinfecting.

G. Shop drawings for all steel and miscellaneous mctalwchc shall be silbmitted to the
Endneer for review in accordance with Clause 2.2 Shop Drawings.

H. The wchc and equipment to be provided by the Contactor under this Contract shall
confom with U.S Standard as mentioned in the following clause or with any htemational
Standnd of equal vrfue.

I. Welding terms used in this specification shall be interpret according to the definition
given in AWS A3.0.

I .2 RATERIALS

A StructLrd Shapes
All stnictural shapes for use shall be the open-heart basic oxygen, or electrie-furnace
process. Open or non-ttibulff structtml shapes shall conform with ASTM A36. When
structural shapes are fabricated from steel plates, the plates shall confom with item a).

B.LPLeife

Plate materials shall be openTearth, elechic-furnace. or basioloxygen process steel


conforming with the latest revision of any of the following applicable ASTM
specifications: A36A131, Grades A and 8; A283, Grades A,B,C and D or A573,
cfro 58.
C. Anchor Bolts. Rods. and Reinfdrcin£ Steel

I. The Contractor shall furnish and sct an bolts, anchor bolts, rods and rdnforcing steel.
Except where otherwise cho`un or specified, all bolts, anchor bolts, washer, and nuts
shall be steel, galvanized after fabrication in accordance with Clause 4.3.
2. Except as shown provided herein, steel for bolts, anchor bolts, and cap screws shall be
in accordance with "apecification for Low Cwhon Steel Externally and hiemally
threaded Standard Fasteners", Grade 8 (ASTM Designation A307} or " Specification
for Carbon Steel Bars Subject to Mechanical Property Requirement"(ASTM
Designation A306) or threaded parts of ASTM A36 and chall meet the following
additional requirements: (I) the nut matchals shall be free-cutting , and (2) the nuts
shall be capable of developing the full strength of bolts. Threads shall be Coarse
Thread Series conforming with the requirement of the Amchcan Standard for Screw
Threads. All halts and cap screw shall have hexagon heads, and nuts shall be Heavy
Hexagon Series.

3. Threads of galvanized bolts and nuts shall be formed with suitable taps and dies such
that they retain the normal clearance after hot+dip galvanizing.

4. Unless othenvise shourn, all bolts, anchor bolts, ant nuts which are buried, submerged,
or inside a covered kydraulic structure shall be Hot-Dip galvanized per TS-20 and then
coated with t`ro coats of coal tar epoxy after installalon.

D. Ladders

All ladders shall be fabricated of cafoon steel and galvanized after fabrication.

E. Steel Pipe IIandrails

Steel pipe handrails shall be standard 38mm (I-lrein.) black steel pipe made up by
welding. Railings shall be shop-fabricated into easily handled units and hot-dip galvanizeed
after. Field welding of pipe handrails joints will be pemitted only if approved dy the
Engineer, and then only in accordance with his instn]ctious. Submerged steel pipe chall be
coated with two coats of coal tar epoxy after installation.

F. Pine Col`urus

Pipe colunm stect shall confom with the rspecification for Wctded and Seamless Steel
Pipe," (ASTM A53} Chide 8. Pipe colulrms that would be submerged shall be coated
with t`ro coats of coal tar apoxy.

G.MedD-
Metal decking shall be of the size and gage sho\rm in tl]e drawings and shall ineet the
xpuirement of the Specification for the "Design of light Gage, Cold-Formed Steel
Structural Members" of the American Iron and Steel institute. The steel shall be
galvanized.

H. Safety Stair Tieads

Aluminum safty treads loomm (4 in.) wide shall be provided on all stairs, and elsewhere
where choun

I. Metal Chafing and Floor Hatches

I. General

Metal grating and floor hatohes shall be of the design, size, and t)pes shown.
Aluminum in contact with other mctals or concrete shall be painted with one (1 ) coat
of zinc chromate and furo (2) coats of approved aluminum metal-and-masonry paint.
2. MedGrating

Metal grating shall be fabricated of aluminum. stainless steel, or galvanized steel as


clown. No single piece Of grating shall weigh more than 25 lag (55 lbs) unless
specifically dctailed otherwise. Aluminum shall be 606 lT6 AIloy Bearing Bars and
6063T5 Alloy Cross Bars. Stainless steel shall be type 18-8. All grating shall be
complctdy banded

3. Floor Hatches

Floor hatches shall be fabricated of steel or aluminum as shown. Hatches chall be


deut>le-swing, and shall be furnished with t`ro (2) stay bars designed to hold the
covers in an open position and provide a railing around the opening. stay bar brackets
designed to provide storage for the bars when the latoh is closed, four (4) flush
handles, joint gutter, and moat-type drain connection. Steel hatches shall be
galvanized after fabricalon. main connection size and location shall be shown.

J. Iron Casthg

hen casting shall confom with the rspecificarion for Chay Iron Casting" (ASTM A48),
unless otherwise shown.

K. Seat Amles. SuDDort. and Gtiides

Seat angles fu gralng shall be aluminum or steel as shown and size as clown. Guides for
side gates shall be steel, of a size shown, hot-dip galvanized after fabrication

1.3 GALVINIZING

AIL strucfual steel places, shapes, hers, and fabricated assemblies required to be galvanized
shall,afterhasbeenthorongftycleanedofnistandscale,begalvanizedinaccordancewiththe
rspeeificationforZincquot"vanized)coatingsonProductsfabricatedfromRolle4Pressed
and Forged Steel Shapes, Plates, Bars and Strip" (ASTM A123). Any galvanized part that
beeones warped during the galvanizing operation shall be straichtened. Bolts, anchor bolts,
nuts, and similar threaded faseeners, after being propedy cleaned, chall be galvanized in
accordance with the W Specifications for Zinc Coating quot Dip) on Iron and Steel Hardware"
(ASTM A153). Field repairs to galvanizing shall be tnade using ttGalvano," "Galvo-Weld," or
appevedequal.
1 .4 sHop FABRlcATroN T s'IEEL woRKs

A. Cineral

All wck of the Contractor shall be of the highest quality worlmanship. I,dying out of
shap-fabricated marfual shall be done only by expchenced workmen.

8. Stralchtenin£

Any required shaigheening of materials shall be done by mchods that will not ham
the steel materials. Minor cold straighoening may be perfomed dy hanmchng or
prefaably rolling or pressing. Heat may be used in straighoening for more severe
defonnatius.

C. Finish of plates Edres -Welded Wchc

The plate edges to be welded may be universal mill edges or they may be prepared by
clearing, machining, chipping, or by mechanically guided oxygen or plasma arc
cutting. Edges of inggular contour may be pxpaed dy manually gtiided oxygen or
plasma ac cutting.

I. Oxygen or plasma are cutting. When edges of plates are oxygen or plasma arc cut,
the surface obtained shall be unifom and smooth and shall be cleared of slag
accimulalon before welding, All cutting follow closely the lines prescribed.

2. Shearing. Shearing may be used for matchals 13mm (1# in.) or less in thickness
to be joined by bim joints, and for all thjchess of mrfuals permitted to be joined
by lap.

D. RQlife

Plates shall be coldrfolled to suit the curvature of tank.

E. Double-Curved Plates

Plates that are cunred in t`ro directions may be pressed either cold or hot or may be
dished with a Thortar and pestle" die by rapcated application.

F. Milhi of colluus

The ends of co]unns shall be milled to provide a satisfactory berfung unless the deign
calls for sufficient welding to resist the total calculated application.

All v`relding shall be the shielded arc mcthod and shall confom with the AWS "Code
for Are and Gas Wctding in Building Construchon." Qualjficalon of welders shall be
in accordance with the specifications for Standard Qualfications Procedure of the
AWS.

8. Butt Joints

1. Subject to primary stress due to weight or pressure of tanlc contents: Buttjoints


subject to primay stress such as longitudinal joints of cylindrical tank shells and
au joints below the point of support in suspended bottoms of elevated tanks shall
have complete joint penetration welds, which may be double welded from both
sides or welded firm one side only using a backing stip or equivalent means to
ensure complcte joint penetralons wdds. Butt joints may be used for all thickness
permitted to be welded under this specificalon.
2. Sulject to secondary stress: in butt joints subject to secondapr stress such as
circumfintial joints of eylindrical tank shells, matchals lomm (3rs in.) or less in
thickness and single groove welded joints shall have complete joint penetration
welds. Joints in materials of thichess greater than lomm (3rs in.) with square
groove or doubleigroove welds shall be either patal joint penetration or complete
joint penetration is specified by the EnSneer. In partial joint penetration welds the
unwelded portions plus any cutting, shall not exceed one third of the thickness of
the thirmer plate; the tLnwelded porion shall be located near the center of the
thinner plate, and partial joint penrfuons welds shall be have complete joint
penetralon welds for distance of at least 75mn (3 in.) on each side of interseedng
sides intersecting joins. Partial joint penetration welds shall have a strength
equivalent to at least twothirds that of a double-groove butt weld having complcte
joint penetrations. If complete joint penetration welds are desired, they shall be
specified by the Engineer.

3. Butt joints may be used for welding all thichess of mrfuals pemitted to be
welded under this specification,

C. Lap Joints

I. Subject to primary stress due to weight or pressure of tank contents: Lap joints
sutjected to prirmry stress , such as lonedtudinal joints eylindrical tanks shells and
aujointsbctowthepoiutofsupportsinsxpendedbottomsofctevatedtanks,shall
have contimLous ful fil]ct welds on both edges of the joints . The maximum
tlrickDess permitted for this type shall be 12mm (1# in.)

2. Subjected to seconday stress; Lap joints subjected to secondary stess, such as


circunfintialjoiutsofeylindricaltankchells,shallbeweldedonbothsideswith
carfuous fillet welds. The mariinum driclmess pemitted for this type shall be
16 in ( 5rs in.)

3. in case, welded lap joints, except when shown on the plans, shall be lapped not
less than five thres the nominal thickness of the thinner plate joined (5T); but in
doul>1e-wctded lap joints, the lap need not exceed 50 mm(2 in.) and in single-
qnaldedlapjoints,thelapneednotexceed25mm(1in.)

The maxinurn thickness of plates, except of plates structural components and base
phaSespemittedtobeweldunderthespeeificafronshallbe50mm(2in)orotherwise

E. B9Of pifeQs

For roof plates which qe not sut>ject to hydrostatic pressure from tank contents, lap
joints may be welded on the top side only with condrueus fiill fillet wdds. 8" joints
shall be single-groove wctds, using suital>le backing or equivalent means to ensure at
least ninety percent (90%) joint penetration.

F. . Miniinum._Size of Fillet and Seal Wctds

1. Fmct Welds: Plates 5 mm (3/16 in) and less in thickness shall have full fillet
welds. Plates more tlian 5 mm (3/16 in) thick shall have welds of a size not less
than one-third the thickness of the thinner plate at the joint, with mininum of
5 mm (3/16 in.).
2. Seal Welds: Seal welds , when desird, shall be accompliched by the continuous
v`reld combining the function of sealing and strmgth, changing sedon only as the
required strength may necessitate.

G. Mininum Lenth of Wctds

The minimum length of any welds shall be four times the size but not less than 38 mm
(1-1re in.), or ctse the size of the wctds shall be oonsidered not to exceeds one-fourth
of its lengtll.
The eifeedve length of a fillet velds shall not included the length of the tapered ends.
A deduedon of at least 6.35nm (1/4 in.) shall be made from the overall length as an
allowance for tapered ends.

EL htemittent Welding

Intennittent welding shall not be used on tank chel] plating in contact with tank
contents or on s`irfaces exposed to errfual weathering. Intermittent groove welds
shall not be used.

I. Length: The length of any segment of intrmittent weld shall not less than four
times the weld size but never less than 38 mm (I-Ire in.)

2. Seams: All seams that are to have interDrittent weld shall have condnuous length
of welds at each end for a distance of at least I 50 mm (6 in.)

I .6 Enechon of Steel Reservoir Stnicture

A General
The Contactor shall furnish all labor, tools, falsowor]¢ scaffolding, and other
equipment necessary and shall erect the tank so that it is colxpletely ready for use.

All welds in the tank and stnictural attachment shall be made in a manner to ensure
complete fusion with the base metal, within the linits specified for each joint, and in
accordance with the qualified procedure.

C. Preparation of Surface to be Welded

Surfaces to be welded shall be free from loose scale, slag, heavy rust, grease, paint,
and any other foreign matchals, except tightly adherent mill scale. A light film of
deoxaluminate or equivalent apatter film coapound may be disregarded. Such surfaces
shall be smooth uniform, and free from fins, seams and other defects that adversely
affect proper welding. A fine film of nist adhering on cut or sheared edge after wire
bnlshing need not be removed,

D. Tack Welds

Tack welds used in the assembly of joints subject to primary stress from the weight or
pressure of the tank contents shall be thoroughly cleared of all welding slag, but need
not be removed, provided they are visually inspected for soundness (no cracks,
complete fusion, filled comers, and acceptable profiles) and metal.

E. Tck Assembly

All shell, bottom and roof plates subjected to sness to primary by the weight or
pressure of the contained liquid shall be assembled and welded in such a mamer that
the proper curvature of the plates in both directions is maintained

I. Clips, jigs, and lugs welded to the shell plates for ereedon purpose shall be
removed without damaring the plates, any potion of the weld beads rmaining
chall be dipped or ground smooth.

2. Bottom plates for elevated tanks: The bottom plates tanks shall be assembled and
welded together by a procedure that will result in minimum of distortion from
weld shrinknge.

3. Tank shell: Fee welding in the welding in the vertical position, the progression of
welding shall be either upward or dowrmrard.

The shell plates shall be joined by welding the joints in a sequence that the
Contractor has found to result in the least distortion due to shrinkage of weld and
that will avoid kinks at the loncttndinal joints.

F. Matohin Plates

I. Ixp joints: The plates forming a lap joint shall held in as close contact as possible
during welding and in no case shall the squation be more than I.6 mm (I/6 in.)
Where separations occurs, the size of the weld shall be increased by the amount of
separation.
2. Buttjoints under primary stress: in buttjoints subjects to prfucary stress from
weight or pressure of tanks contents, the adjoining plates chat be aligned
accurately and retained in position dtiring welding, so that in the finish joint the
centerlines of adjoining plates chat not have an offset from each other at any point
in excess of ten percent (10 a/o) of the plate thickness ( using the drickness of the
thimer plate if of diffcrmt thidmess) or I.6 mm (I /6 in.) whichever is smaller.

3. Buttjoints under seoonday sdess: h buttjoint subjected to secondary stress, the


adjoiningplateschallbealignedaccuratelyandretalnedinthepositiondting
welding so that in the finishedjoint, the thinner plate (if one is thimer than the
other) shall not project beyond its edjoining plate by more than twenty (20%) of
the plate tlrickness ( using thickness of thinner plate if of different thickness) or 3
mm (I/8 in.) whichever is smaller.

4. Cleaning of welds: The ContractoT's crew shall remove weld scale or slag,
spatter, burrs, and other sharp or rough projeets in a manner that will leave the
surface suitable for the subsequent and painting operation. Weld scans need not
be chipped or ground , provided they may be satisfactory cleaned and printed.

G. Grotrfug of column and Riser Bases

After the has been complctely erected and " tnnd xp" a minimum of 25 mm ( I in.)
apace between the column and riser hoses and the foundation shall be provided for
grouting. The apace shall be wetted thoroughly and fitted with a I : I 5 cement-sand
grouL which is foroed under the base plates until the apace is filled complctely. The
Contractor shall fimich matedals and labor for grouting.

2.0 PIPES AND FITTINGS & VALVES INSTALLATION


2.I Scone of work

This item shall consists of fumiching all matchals, tools, equripment and fixtures required
as shown on the Plans for the satisfactory perfolmanoe of the entire piping systap
including installation in accordance with the latest applicable Code and this Specification.

2.2 Material Rea`iirments

All piping materials, fixtures and fitting accessories, whether apecifically mentioned or
not but necessary to complete this Item, shall be famished and installed.

2.2.I Steel pines and Fittines

A. All GI pipe shall be Schedule 40, conforming to apecificalon requirments defined in


ASTM A-120. Fittings shall be in accordance to the specificalon as indicated in
plans and drawings.

8. All UPVC pipes shall be Class loo with 100pst capacity and 6m length., pNs 65, with
standard quality and apecifications, as per Philippines Standard Council.

C. Valves shall be bronze body with threaded ends rateed loQpsi. All valves are gate
valves unless othenvise speeified. Gate valves shall have solid wedge body and discs
confoming to specificndon requirements defined in ASTM 8-62. Globe valves shall
have plug type discs with finilethreaded ends and bronze body.
2.3 Construedon Requirements

The Contractor before any installation wck is started shall carefully examine the Plans
and shall investigate actual stnicfural and finishing work condition affecting an this work.
Where actual condition necessitates a re-arrangement of the approved pipe layrout, the
Contrarfu shall pxpare Plan(s) of the proposed pipe layout for approval by the Project
Manager.

Pipe lay-out shall be in accordance with the designed grade and ctevation of the Pipe tines
and it should be propedy supervised by the license Master Plumber.

Installalon of P`mps shall be supervised by the hicense Mechanical Engineer.

2.4 Mchod of Measurement and Basis ofpa`ment


The work done under this Item shall be quantified per length and/or number of units as
provided in the Bill of Quantities, tesoed and accepted to the satisfaction of the Project
Manager. The accepted quantities measured shall be paid at the contract unit price and
payment shall be full compensafron including habor, materials and incidenfals necessary
to Complete this Item.

3.0 SERVICE cor`INECTloNs


3.I DEsCRrmoN

Work associated with a service connechon condsts of but is not necessarily linited to
excavation, cormecting to the pipe, installation of pipes and fittings, backfill and surfuce
restoration. Oner related `rock is covered in other sections of these Specifications.

3.2 MEAsuREhmNT AND pAyMENI

3.3.I Measurement

Service connection shall be measured by number in place, installed and accepted.


3.3.2 ngyment

The unit bid price for service connechons of the types specified and shown on the
drawings and described in the Bfll Of Quantities, shall constitute full payment for
the supply of all matedals, labor, equipment and incidentals necessary to
complete the item. Such payment shall include for excavation, connecting to the
sewers (if applicable) installation of pipes and ffings, backfill and testing, au in
aooordance with these Specifiedons.

4.0 RESTORATION/REMOVAL OF CONCRETE

This sechon outlines the requirements and procediires for the lenioval and restondon of
existing pavements, and other road stnictures.

The marfuals to be used and mchods of constmction and testing shall conform to the
rsTANDARD SPECIFICATION roR HIGHWAYS AND BRIDGES" Revised 1972, of the
Ministry of Public Works and IIighways ( MPWII) , except as otherwise apecified.
All materials which do not confom to the reqiiirenents of the apecifications as detemined by
the Engineer will be rejeeted whcher in place or not. They shall be removed from the site of
the work at the contractors expense.

The contractor shall at all times mintaln traffic in all seas affected during the construction
and shall provide and maintain signs, tights, barricades and other fachities for the
convenience and diredon of traffic.

The wananty for defect of any work in this item shall be covered by the provisions of GC-57
and GC-58.

a. SCOPE OF WORK

The contractor shall provide all matchals, labor, equipment, machine, tools, tranaportation,
supervision. negotiation, to edjaceDt residents agencies, professional services and skills for
the execution of the following works:
a.) Portland Cement Conercte (PCC) pavement breaking and diaposal
b.) Restoration of pcc pavement inchiding aggregate base course and sub-base materials
c.) Restoration of concrete ciho and giltter, sidewalk and other items dannged in connection
with the work

REMOVAL OF PAVEMENT

The work includes the removal and proper disposal of existing pavement and road structures
affcaed during the trench excavalon and the amount removed shall depend upon the width of
the trench specified or as indicated in the drawings or as ordered dy the Engineer. The width
and length of the arcs of pavement renioved for the installation of culverts or other structures
shall not exceed the maximum linear dimension of such stnictures by more than 0.30 in on
each side. The Contractor shall use such methods either by drilling or chipping by
mechanical cutter to assure breaking of pavenient along straight lines. The face of the
remaining prvemerLt shall be apoxinatdy vedcal.

RESTORATION OF PAVERENT

The work consist of restoration of existing surface pavement and other structures in
govemmcnt and private property to a condition equal to that before the work began. The limits of
restoralon shall be as indicated on the plans or as directed by the Engineer. The Contractor is
liable for any danaged, removed or disturbed pavement trees, propedes and other surface
structures outside the apecified limits.

MATERIALS AND TESTING

All materials to be used in the restoration of pavement (Asphalt or PCC) shall confom to the
requirements as stated in the relevant seedons of the Technical Specificalous. Testing matchals
sample when taken for laboratory test and approval shall comply with the above reference
speeificedon.

MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT

a.) Aggregate sub-base and Base Course. The sub- base and base course matchals shall be
measured in place per cubic meter or part there of and the item rate quoted in the Bill of
Quantities shall include phcing and compachon.
b.) Portland Cement Concrete Pavement. PCC Pavement will be measured per square meter
or part thereof at the thickness and item ra(e quoted in the Bill of Quantities and shall include
placing and compachon, expansion joint material and surface finishing.

c.) Pavement Removal. Aaphalt or PCC Pavement brealdng will be measured per square
meter of pavement area broken and removed and prid for at the item rate given in the Bin of
Quandties which shall include proper diaposal of rmoved materials.

apecified in the plan and hereto as stated chore should be followed as preliminary guide or an
investigation on the designed should be done showing that the matedaLs used ae the same safe.

Any changes in plan, the contractor should always consult the Municipal Engineer or consult any
expert in the Detailed Engineering Design (DED).
