Statistic Homework: One-Tailed Test.

The owner of the GARDENS nightclub in Quito, wants to know if the average age of
the people who enter his business is less than or equal to 30 years, all this in order to
hire an urban music singer.
To determine this, a random sample of 50 people is performed, giving a sample average
of 27 years and a standard deviation of 3.74 years.
Carry out the hypothesis test with a significance level of 0.1 (α=10%)

Ho: u ≤ 30 years

Ha: u > 30 years

1-α α
90% 10%

50%- α = 40%
Z = 40%
Z = 1,285

Test Statistic:
t 3,74
Tx = = = 0,52891587
√n √50
x-u 27-30
Z= = = -5,6719795
Tx 0,52891587

It is within the region of acceptance, therefore the null hypothesis is accepted, that is to
say, the average age of the clients of Gardens is less than or equal to 30 years, so the
owner can hire the artist.
