3 star 0% Generally speaking there are not many texts that explore the functions of the acupuncture points
2 star 0% individually in the historical literature of Chinese medicine. Explanations of uses tend to be terse lists
1 star 0% of conditions the point treats, along with location information, and the rest is couched in broader
discussions of diseases and treatments and must be winnowed out though reading. This text was
How does Amazon calculate star ratings? apparently an anomaly, but a welcome one. It is well translated with interlinear text for reference,
and good consistent language used throughout. The point descriptions offer insights into the nature
of the point, but also include discussions of relevant pathologies, and theory making it interesting
and compelling. Another thing I have enjoyed is the anatomical commentary, which presents more
varied details and discussion about the anatomical relationships of the points than I have previously
seen in other sources. I have not finished yet, but, unlike many pre-modern acupuncture point
manuals it is compelling reading rather than a dry catalog, and worth considering for inclusion in
learning situations as a good primary source that leads students farther into the general theory of
Chinese medicine.

What a breath of fresh air! This text gives a unique glimpse into the mind of an acupuncture physician
of the qing dynasty. This kind of glimpse is rare in Acupuncture literature as many texts primarily
transmit technical information such as point names, locations, indications, prescriptions, etc. but few
offer such a commentary that is true to the medical paradigm and add necessary context for tackling
this technical data. I think this is an important addition to the English Acupuncture literature base.

The book is just amazing and unique. I really LOVED the way the points are explained and the
reasoning behind everyone., that's certainly not something common in moder texts. The translation is
very friendly I would say :) which at the same time keeps the poetry of it.
Thanks to Michael and Allen to make this book possible, I really appreciate you can connect the two
worlds with this excellent material, its quality is the best.

The book is a good size!! A little smaller then a sheet of loser leaf, with 400 pages of content (not
including the index) and this is just the first volume!!! Well written/translated and laid out. This book
is easy to understand and follow. Although, like all good books, at times I have to look up something
or think about what is being said. I think that is part of what makes it’s great. It’s definitely expanded
my knowledge base and opened my mind to seeing points and even diagnostic criteria, in a new light.
Which has changed a lot for me!!
