Abstract:

With the increasing population day by day the focus on effective and agricultural methods is
getting more attention. The technological advancements are used to required scale in
industrial sector, but agricultural sector still uses obsolete methods. Thus with this as a major
area of concern, this project deals with the development of Development of wireless dual
control solar powered smart insecticide and fertilizer spraying machine to help Indian

Farmers. The proposed machine should be able to spray insecticides pesticides and fertilizers
using a tank provided onto the machine. The project involves interfacing this machine to
android application and controlling this machine using an android application. The dual
mode control permits the control of machine using joystick. In addition the proposed
machine should have the ability to adjust the height of spraying for different crops and a live
camera which can transmit the crop details wirelessly to the farmer.

Introduction:

Day by day the population of India is increasing and to fulfill the need of food
modernization of agricultural sectors are important. Due to chemical fertilizers the fertility of
soil is decreasing. Hence farmers are attracted towards organic farming. By mechanization in
spraying devices fertilizers and pesticides are distributed equally on the farm and reduce the
quantity of waste, which results in prevention of losses and wastage of input applied to farm.
It will reduce the cost of production. It will reduce the cost of production. Mechanization
gives higher productivity in minimum input. Farmers are using same traditional methods for
spraying fertilizers and pesticides. Equipment is also the same for ages. In India there is a
large development in industrial sectors compared to agricultural sectors. Conventionally the
spraying is done by labors carrying backpack sprayer and fertilizers are sprayed manually.
The efforts required are more and beneficial by farmers having small farming land.

In India about 73% of population is directly or indirectly depends upon the farming. Hence it
is said that India is an agricultural based country. But till now our farmers are doing farming
in same traditional ways. They are doing seed sowing, fertilizers and pesticides spraying,
cultivating by conventional methods. There is need of development in this sector and most
commonly on fertilizers pesticides spraying technique, because it requires more efforts and
time to spray by traditional way.
Most of Asian nations are at developing stage and they are facing the problem of high
population and as compared to that agricultural productivity is much lower as compared to
developed nations. India is one of the nations who is facing the same problem. This is caused
due to low level farms, insufficient power availability to farms and poor level of farm
mechanization.
In order to meet the requirement of food of growing population and rapid industrialization,
there is a need of the modernization of agriculture sector. On many farms production suffers
because, delay in sowing, improper distribution suffer because delay in sowing, improper
distribution of pesticides and fertilizers, harvesting. Mechanization solves all the problems
which are responsible for low production. It conserves the input and precision in work and
get better and equal distribution. It reduces quantity needed for better response, prevent the
losses and wastage of input applied. It get high productivity so that cost of production will
reduced.
To reach the requirement of production Agriculture implement and machinery program of the
government take steps to increase availability of implement, pumps, tractors, power tillers,
harvester and other power operated machines. Special emphasis was laid on the later as more
than 65% of the farmers fall in small and marginal category.

To solve these problems this project deals with the development of dual mode solar powered
insecticide and fertilizer spraying machine. The proposed machine can solve the obsolete
methods of agriculture by using technology which permits the control of machine wirelessly
using Remote controlled as well as android enabled mobile phones.
Literature Review:

The following research papers were referred before starting with the project. The excerpt
form our study is documented in the literature review. It consists of research work carried out
by the research scholars.

Laukik P.Raut, Smith B.Jaiswal, NitinY.Mohite[1] worked on Design, development and

fabrication of agricultural pesticides sprayer with weeder. According to them, In our country
farming is done by traditional way, besides that there is large development of industrial and
service sector as compared to that of agriculture. The spraying is traditionally done by labor
carrying backpack type sprayer which requires more human effort. The weeding is the
generally done with the help of Bulls which becomes costly for farmers having small farming
land. So to overcome these above two problems a machine is developed which will be
beneficial to the farmer for the spraying and weeding operations.

Prof. Swati D.Kale, Swati V. Khandagale, Shweta S. Gaikwad[2], developed Agriculture

Drone for Spraying fertilizer and pesticides. According to their research work the application
of pesticides and fertilizers in agricultural areas is of prime importance for crop yields. The
use of aircrafts is becoming increasingly common in carrying out this task mainly because of
its speed and effectiveness in the spraying operation. However, some factors may reduce the
yield, or even cause damage (e.g. crop areas not covered in the spraying process, overlapping
spraying of crop areas, applying pesticides on the outer edge of the crop). Climatic
condition ,such as the intensity and direction of the wind while spraying add further
complexity to the control problem. In their research they describe an architecture based on
unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) which can be employed to implement a control loop for
agricultural applications where UAVs are responsible for spraying chemicals on crops. The
process of applying the chemicals is controlled by means of the feedback obtained from the
wireless sensor network (WSN) deployed on the crop field. The aim of this solution is to
support short delays in the control loop so that the spraying UAV can process the information
from the sensors. They evaluate an algorithm to adjust the UAV route under changes in wind
intensity and direction. Moreover, they evaluate the impact of the number of communication
messages between the UAV and minimize the waste of pesticides.

S.R.Kulkarni, Harish Nayak, Mohan Futane[3], developed portable foot operated

Agricultural Fertilizer and pesticides spraying pump according to them there are different
types of cultivators in India namely small, marginal, medium and rich. Small scale farmer’s
use conventional manually lever operated knapsack sprayers because of the three reasons; it
is user friendly equipment, ease of design and cost effective machine. But it cannot maintain
required pressure; it also leads to lumbar pain. However this equipment can also lead to
misapplication of chemicals and ineffective control of target pest. It leads to the loss of
pesticides due to dribbling or drift during application. This process not only adds to cost but
also hazardous to the environment and causes imbalance in natural eco system They
suggested a proto type of foot operated pesticide spraying pump. It helps spraying at
maximum rate in less time.

Sandip H. Poratkar, Dhanraj R. Raut[4] worked on Development of multi-nozzle pesticide

sprayer pump according to them small scale farmers are very interested in manually lever
operated knapsack sprayer because of its versatility, cost and design. But this sprayer has
certain limitations like it cannot maintain required pressure; it lead to problem of back pain.
However this equipment can also lead to misapplication of chemicals and ineffective control
of target pest which leads to loss of pesticides due to dribbling or drift during application.
This phenomenon not only adds to cost of production but also cause environmental pollution
and imbalance in natural echo system. They suggested a model of manually operated multi
nozzle pesticides sprayer pump which will perform spraying at maximum rate in minimum
time. Constant flow valves can be applied at nozzle to have uniform nozzle pressure.
