SELF CHARGING SYSTEM FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES

USING SOLAR ENERGY.

Abstract:
The electrical vehicle market share in India is increasing day by day. However the charging
stations are causing a major hurdle. The electric vehicles require charging and this is the major
hurdle in successful implementation of electric vehicles. The proposed project deals with the
prototype of solar powered electric vehicle with regenerative secondary charging system with
autoswitch. The proposed project consists of a prototype of an electric vehicle which uses
primary battery to drive the vehicles drive train. When the vehicle is moving the part the
generator coupled to the primary system(regenerative) generates the electricity and is used for
charging the secondary battery. When the primary battery discharges completely, there is
automatic switch over to secondary battery which will drive the vehicle. Thus battery backup of
the electric vehicle can be extended. The secondary battery also is charges using solar energy
which will help us develop an energy efficient electric vehicle. Thus the proposed concept can
solve the problems faced by electric vehicle for battery backup and setting up of charging
stations.
