Grade 2 at Home 

Week 9 (June 1-5) 


As some students may be returning to school June 1st, we are reducing the 
amount of online activities and focussing on reviewing grade 2 learning 
outcomes and expectations. Please choose 1 literacy and 1 math activity to 
share with your teacher this week. You can take a picture or short video and 
send it via email.  
 
Reading / Writing  Math  

Basic Addition Strategy Map 


● Repetition is key to solidifying 
basic number facts.  
● Practicing basic addition and 
subtraction facts and strategies 
is key to strong number skills.  
● If your child is using fingers to 
add basic facts this is a sign 
that they really need to practice 
the various strategies to “get off 
of their fingers” so that they will 
be ready for grade three math. 
 
 
NUMBER SENSE: 
 
Reviewing basic math facts (addition 
and subtraction facts to 20) is a 
 
critical skill to keep fresh.  
  Fast recall of your facts helps our 
  general number sense. 
READING: ​Read, read, and read   
some more! Find that cozy spot and  Week two of Independent 
choose a book from home, or EPIC  worksheets for grade two 
or listen to one of these storytime
