Lesson Plan in Teaching Mathematics in Elementary Grade

Grade Level : Grade 2 Mathematics

I.Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to

A. Understand concept of subtracting two-digit numbers without regrouping.


B. Apply knowledge on subtracting two-digit number in solving given problem.
C. Develop value of honesty.

II.Subject Matter

Lesson:Subtraction of two- digit numbers without regrouping


Resources: Mathematics in Everyday Living 2 pp. 77-78
Materials: pictures, chart, flashcards

III.Procedure

A. Drill:
Preliminary Activities
1. Singing of Math song
2. Reciting skip counting by 2’s
B. Review: Group Game ( addition of two digit number with regrouping)

Form the class into 4 groups. Each of the group will be given a strips of
paper where they will write their answer. As the teacher shows the flashcards
containing questions to be answered the group will write their answer on the strip
and paste as fast as they can on the board. The first group to post the correct
answer will win the round.

C. Motivation: Showing picture (boy buying goods in a sari-sari store)

 What do you see in the picture?


 Did you also experience buying some items in the sari-sari store?
 Who asked you to buy?
 What are the examples of goods you buy in the sari-sari store?
 How much was given to you?
 Do you know how to count if the change given to you is correct?
D. Presentation:
Toby was asked by her mother to buy a can of sardines in Aling Celia’s
sari-sari store. Her mother gave her a P50.00 amount of money. The price of a
one can of sardines is P20.00. How much will be his change?

a change for the amount she gave to you are you giving back the change completely?
