Machine Learning Transformer Conditioning Monitoring using Wireless

Sensor Network and Internet of Things

Description:

The propose study will investigate the WSN and IoT through that is used to
monitor and control the voltage, current and temperature of a distribution
Transformer through machine learning technique. The proposed study will
designed a system to monitor the transformers essential parameters
continuously monitors the parameters throughout its operation. If the
microcontroller recognizes any increase in the level of voltage, current or
temperature values the unit has been made shutdown in order to prevent it from
further.

The proposed study will utilize an in-situ base station and a number of distributed
wireless sensor nodes. Each sensor node is a combination of sensors,
microcontroller (uC), and a ZigBee radio transceiver (the XBee module). The
XBee module on the base station is configured as coordinator and the XBee
modules on the sensor nodes and will work together to form a mesh network
topology using ZigBee networking protocols

To access the sensor nodes and the data from the outside world, a web
application is developed on the base station using the Apache HTTP web server.
For the base station, we used a low power credit-card-sized single-board
computer Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. It will be connected to the XBee coordinator
module through a USB cable and a USBto-UART serial converter circuit. The
network sensors node however will will be a composition of Arduino and Digi
XBee module. The XBee module encapsulates 802.15.4 RF transceivers and
ZigBee protocol stacks, and it can be easily integrated into microcontroller or
microprocessor systems such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi through UART serial
communication interface. The XBee module can be configured into three types of
devices: coordinator, router, and end device.

A web-based interface and mobile apps will be developed for the users to
interact from their mobile devices within the local area network or from any
terminal on the Internet to access the sensor data or perform remote
configuration and management of deployed sensor nodes.
