WS 4 Meeting Minutes

1. BPP x WM DST Video content


 The BPP x WM DST video has been finalized and translated into Yoruba and Tiv languages. The video will also
be translated to Ibo for partners working in the Southeast Nigeria.
 It was agreed that partners involved in BPPxWM will continue using the already finalized video pending the time
the farmers’ friendly video will be ready, and it is replaced.
 Godwin advised that the finalized video should be put on the projectors as soon as possible so that partners can
start using it for dissemination.
 Godwin gave update on the ongoing BPPxWM radio program as follows:
o Five episodes of the program have been recorded in English, Yoruba and Tiv languages, and airing of the
recorded episodes has started.
o Eight episodes of soap opera around the radio program have been recorded.
 Thompson had discussion with OYSCGA and they have agreed to share the content of their radio program so
that it can be harmonized with the content of the ongoing radio program
 Veronica indicated that Godwin has shared the content of the BPPxWM radio program with Tanzania team, and it
has been translated into Swahili. A consultant will be hired to produce a radio jingle which will be exposed to
partners during the weed management ToT.

ACAI Farmer Video content
 Development of ToR for recruitment of a consultant to handle the motion animations of the videos has been
stopped as Robert (who is handling the static animations) will also handle the motion component. Robert has
already shared some sample animations with some of the team members for review.
 Draft budget estimate for production of the videos has been shared with Pieter, Theresa and Annah.
 David has shared video footages that have been shot so far with the scientists for their review.
 Two Narrators (a male and a female) for the voice over of the videos have been selected, and contracts will be

signed with them shortly.


 Godwin has shared status of shooting in Nigeria with a lot of progress on IC and BPP use cases. It was agreed
that David and Godwin will discuss how to organize and code the footages during the AGRF conference in Accra.

4. Communication and promotional materials
 David has shared the draft Akilimo flyers and banners with Pieter, he has printed them and they will be used at the
AGRF conference in Accra
 Tanzania field day video is being edited by a consultant. David will share it as soon as the consultant delivers it.
 David has reviewed and finalized the Nigeria field day video. He will follow up with Idris to share the final version of
the video with the team.

Update from Tanzania
 TFNC is currently conducting MEL/dissemination step down training with their extension agents and the Tanzania
team is backstopping.
 Tanzania team is following up with partners to upload their dissemination data in a timely manner.
 Establishment of 2019/2020 season validation trials will start immediately after the weed management ToT
Scaling and Partnership Management
 Thompson had a meeting with Grossel in Lagos on how farmers’ access to markets and financial supports can aid
dissemination of the DSTs. Grossel currently has a good network in Oyo and Benue state and they have agreed to sign
MoU with ACAI. Likewise IDH, they promised to work on the MoU and get back in due course.
 Thompson had discussion with some starch companies on how to get starch prices information for regular update of
the SP/HS DST. The starch companies have indicated their willingness to provide the information whenever it is
needed.

 Godwin indicated that partners of old CWMP have started dissemination activities with the BPPxWM video, but they
are having issues with data upload.
 Godwin reported that he had requested for procurement of additional 18 projectors through the IITA supply chain unit.
 Distribution of projectors to partners was discussed. It was agreed that projectors should be given first to partners who
have video viewing in their work plans, then follow by other partners.

MEL plan/Activities
 Regular follow up with partners on upload of dissemination data to the platform:
o Saburi conducted a follow up visit to SG2000 in Southeastern states for upload of dissemination data. All demo
events have been registered, and participants’ lists have been linked to them.
o 20 out of 22 events registered by OYSCGA have participants lists linked to them. The remaining 2 participants’
lists will be uploaded in due course.
 Theresa gave information about LeanData. which is an organization that BMGF has contracted to conduct follow up
surveys on awareness of disseminated technologies, knowledge gained, benefits and other results by beneficiaries of
BMGF projects. LeanData has started the process with ACAI in Nigeria to look into farmers’ related outputs and a bit of
outcome results. They are focusing on farmers reached by OYSCGA (SW) and SG2000 (SE) from their dissemination
activities.
 Theresa reiterated the need for the team to regularly backstop with partners to ensure they understand the contents of
the DSTs, and the DSTs are properly integrated in their dissemination activities.
