I. CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of environment and market in one’s
locality/town.

II. PERFORMANCE STANDARD


The learner independently creates a business vicinity map reflective of potential market
in one’s locality/town.

III. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Define and identify a brand, brand name, and its types and characteristics.
2. Apply the procedure in developing brand name.
3. Appreciate the criteria for choosing brand name.

Greet the students then ask them to seat properly.

a. Prelection
1. Prior Knowledge
Review about the 7Ps of marketing mix.
2. Motivation
The teacher projects a logo of a certain famous brands and asks the
students what is the name of the brand.

b. Lesson Proper
The teacher defines the word “brand” according to American Marketing
Association. Brand refers to a category of products that are all made by a particular company
and all have a particular name. Then, he tells that the concept of a brand name. Brand name is
the name given by the maker to a product or range of products, especially a trademark.
The teacher asks about their idea in characteristics of a good brand name. Then,
enumerate and explain the different characteristics and criteria of a good brand name:
1. Distinctive
2. Simple
3. Meaningful
4. Universally valid
5. Have a short name
6. Compatible with product
The teacher will enumerate and discuss the different brand name association
(word association, image association, and product association) and types of brand name
(descriptive brand name, suggestive brand name, and freestanding/ empty vessel brand name).
The teacher will discuss the procedure in developing brand name.

I. Enumeration:

13 – 15: Criteria for choosing brand name.
II. Essay: Draw a simple brand logo with brand name. Explain why you chose that brand and
brand name to be your business.

VII. ASSIGNMENT
Search and read about 4Ms of operations (Manpower, Method, Machine, Materials) in relation to
the business opportunity.
