INTRODUCTION
• The horizontal floor system resists the gravity load (dead load and
live load) acting on it and transmits this to the vertical framing
systems.

• In this process, the floor system is subjected primarily to flexure and

transverse shear, where as the vertical frame elements are generally
subjected to axial compression, often coupled with flexure and
shear. The floor also serves as a horizontal diaphragm connecting
together and stiffening the various vertical frame elements.
LITERATURE REVIEW
• Abhay M. Pande, Anup M. Bhendale, Dr. Manish M. Bais (2018)
U-boot is a voided slab system which uses recycled polypropylene formwork designed
to create two-way voided slabs and rafts. These void formers create many “I” shaped
beams making up the slab. The U-boot system is cast entirely On-site using formwork.
After forms are erected, the steel and void formers are placed before the concrete is
poured in two lifts.

• Arati Shetkarand & Nagesh Hanche (2015)

In this paper, an experimental study is carried out on bubble deck slab made with
elliptical balls made of polypropylene. This paper gives a report regarding deflections
for two different grades of concrete i.e. M25 and M35 and with different diameters of
elliptical balls i.e. 180, 186 and 240 mm. All the five specimens are made with same
dimensions. On comparing the five specimens, the specimen with M35 grade of concrete
with diameter 186 mm shows less deflection with value 15.18 mm.
MODERN TECHNIQUES USED

• U - Boot Technology

• Bubble Deck Technology

• Cobiax Technology
U - BOOT TECHNOLOGY
• U-Boot Beton is a recycled polypropylene formwork that was
designed to create lightened slabs and rafts with large spans
which are able to support large loads without beams.
ADVANTAGES
• Light Thin And Bidirectional
• Flexible
• Open Spaces
• Fire Resistant
• Improved Acoustic Behavior
• Economical
BUBBLE DECK TECHNOLOGY
• Bubble deck slab is a hollow, flat slab that spans in two directions,
in which plastic balls are incorporated to replace, and therefore
eliminate the concrete in the middle of a conventional slab which
does not contribute to its structural performance.
ADVANTAGES

• Superior Statics

• Production & Carrying Out

• Safety

• Transportation

• Economic Savings
COBIAX TECHNOLOGY
• Cobiax Technology is based on generating specific hollows inside a
reinforced concrete slab. Massive concrete is replaced by synthetic void
formers and remains only in statically relevant areas. Thus, it is possible to
construct buildings with flat slabs while allowing for remarkable span
width.
CONCLUSION
• The U-boot technology is a very advanced, economical,
architectural and fastest method of construction of a slab.
• The result identified that 1m3 of concrete replaced by high density
polyethylene hollow sphere with 27% cost reduction in total amount
of concrete.
• Architectural freedom can also be achieved by utilizing these voided
slabs. And these slabs make it possible to achieve longer spans with
the same amount of concrete in the slab, allowing for less columns
and a more open interior space.
