INTRODUCTION
 The u-boot formwork is the modular element made of recycled polypropylene for use in
building lighter structures in reinforced concrete cast in the work site.
 This new lighter structure is achieved by enclosing the u-boot within the concrete cast to create
voids. Slabs built with u-boot can form the structural elements of various building systems,
such as floors, rafts and so on, for both civil and industrial buildings.

 U-boot beton is a boxlike formwork structure made of recycled polypropylene
 It has a pyramid shape and a lower base 52 x 52 cm. lateral flaps and upper tips used as spacers
in order to create voids in concrete massive slabs.
 They come in element height of 16, 20, 24, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48 cm.
 The parts of the u-boot are spacer joint, connection bridge, closing plate.

OBJECTIVES OF U-BOOT

 To increase the bearing capacity where there is a low bearing capacity.


 Great bearing capacity with lower thickness of slab.
 Reduction of concrete consumption and steel consumption.
 Load is distributed to direction in the slab and it is discharged to the pillars and foundation .
TYPES OF U-BOOT BETON

 Generally two type of u-boot beton ,


I. SINGLE U-BOOT BETON:-it have only upper u-beton with foot and spacer.

where,
H = height of up U-Boot.
P = height of foot.

 Single U-Beton is available of various up beton height and foot height of base dimension
(52 cm x 52 cm).
II. DOUBLE U-BETON - It’s having both upper and lower part of u-boot with foot and spacer.
This is also available in various size of up u-boot,down
down u-boot and foot height

where,
P= foot height.
H= Total height of upper u-boot and lower u-boot.

 The working dimension of double u-beton is (52cm×52cm).


INSTALLATION OF U-BOOT TECHNOLOGY
 The installation process for the u-boot is showing below as step wise,

Step-I:-
Place lower reinforment
above the formwork.

Step-II:-
Now place the u-boot above
the lower reinforecement  at
the specified intervals provided
by the horizontal link connectors.

Step-III:-
Now complete the upper
reinforcement which above
the u-beton.

Step-IV:-
Now pouring of concrete is being done.

Step-V:-
Now concrete is poured and slab is ready.
Now after setting of the concrete we
We will un-propped the formwork.

APPLICATION OF U-BOOT BETON
 It is used to create large concrete span which having great bearing capacity.
 It’s increases the spacing of columns which gives major benefits.
 It is used in High Rise Building , Commercial building , Hospitals , Parking Lot etc.
 The use of U-boot formworks helps us to reduce the amount of concrete and steel used in
laying the slabs.

In Raft Foundation
 It can be is also used in raft foundation
due to the following reason,
I. To increase the bearing capacity where soils having U-Boot Beton

low bearing capacity.

III. Concrete saving as compare to making general raft
foundation.
IV. Provide great bearing capacity with lower thickness of
slab.

Possibility to remove beams between columns.

 There are anti-seismic advantages connected to reduced building weight slimmer pillars and
foundations, there are low chance of seismic effect on the buildings
 Reducing weight of slabs can lead to a large reduction in overall seismic force, as weight is a
leading factor in determining the seismic force.
 U-Boot Beton is made up of recycled polypropylene and also its ability to save material allows
building to have smaller impact on the environment.
