COMPARE

Comparing
Master disk
with PLC.

If you have been saving and downloading the program as you have created it, then
the program in the PLC and on the disk will be the same.
There is a Compare Blocks function which can be performed with Step 7 in order
to determined the differences between ONLINE/Offline or Path 1/Path 2 (in
case we want to compare two different projects on disk).

Open SIMATIC Manager, highlight Blocks and select Options>Compare

Blocks….

ONELINE/Offline is a comparison between the blocks in PLC and the blocks in

the current project. SDB’s refers to the System Data. From Step 7 Version 5 it is
also possible to compare blocks from two projects.

Customizing

The comparison is of the Date and Time the blocks were created. If you receive
the above message they are all the same.

Open one of the blocks, FC1 for example, and make a change and save it. Change
I5.4 from NC to NO contact. DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT!!
There is a difference between the disk and the PLC program, compare them again.

Save to disk the latest change.

Compare again

This screen should appear this time, the information may be different to yours.
This one says that the block FC1 is not the same on the disk and in the PLC.
Select Details…

This is the detail of the differences, now select Go To…

The differences.

Both of the blocks are onened, side by side, at the network where the differences
are. You can now see what this difference is.
Close this down, modify and save FC1.
