ARCHIVING - RETRIVING

Archiving a
project.

Step 7 projects take up large amounts of disk space, this is not the same as the
CPU memory. To make the project transportable e.g. on floppy, you will need to
compress it. Step 7 provides a program to do this. At SIMATIC Manager, select
File>Archive.

Which project?

Left mouse click the project to archive, and select OK.

*.arj or *.zip

You have the option to Save as type *.arj….

or *.zip file.

File name,
drive and
folder

Select the File name and the drive and the folder in which to save the archived
project. Select Save.

Headers and
footers not
included.

This refers to the printout header and footer, which is not included in the archive.
Select OK.

Select Yes if you want to override the old file.

The archive program should now start to run, it will automatically exit this
window when it has finished.

Retrieving an
archive.

At the SIMATIC Manager, select File>Retrieve….

Select the
archive
program.

*.arj or *.zip

You have the option to select *.arj or *.zip type of file.

Selecting the
folder.

Select the drive and folder to extract to, then OK.

DOS window.

The file will be extracted, just wait.

You get the above message if the project has been previously opned. Select
Replace.

Open it?

If you want to open the retrieved project now, select Yes.

The project will be opened like this.
