 SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This study focuses on the influence of watching k-drama to the lifestyle of the Grade 10
sections 4,5,7 and 8 of Negros Occidentel High School. The researchers employed
survey method to collect data and responses of students.

The respondants of this study are the Grade 10 sectons 4,5,7 and 8 of Negros Occidental
High School. The results may not be generalized to the larger population of high school
students although future study could be conducted to compare students’ reading practices
among different year levels.Although the research has reached its aims, there are some
unavoidable limitations, one of them is a significant number of respondents available in
the preliminary interview maybe unavailable or unwilling to participate in the final
interview because of personal matters.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

Conceptual:

1. Entertainment - is a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an

audience, or gives pleasure and delight.

2. Korean Dramas - refers to televised dramas in korean language, made in South

Korea, mostly in a miniseries format, with distinctive features that set it apart from
regular western television series or soap operas.

3. Hallyu - is a chinese term which mean” korean wave” refer to the phenomenal
growth of korean culture and popular culture encompassing everything from
music,movies,drama to online games and korean cuisine just to name a few.

4. Media Industries - a varied collection of organizations that share the

production,publication and distribution of media text . A bussiness model based on
communicating information , art and entertainment to a larege audience.

5. Gestures - a movement of a part of the body,especially a hand or the head,to express

an idea or meaning; a form of non-verbal communication.

6. Finger Heart - is a gesture in which a performs a heart shape using their index finger
and thumb.

Operational:

1. Korean Dramas - is a term that got going among fans in the internet.

2. Entertainment - is a kind of activity that amuse or entertain audience or viewers.

3. Hallyu - increase global popularity of South Korean culture.

4. Media Industries - industry that produces several types of content , using diverse
formats and distribution over different platforms.

5 .Gestures-to communicate at others using a part of the body wihout saying a word.
