COMPANY A – G-PACK ENTERPRISES

Recruitment Plan

The outlook for this position is limited in Cape Breton. That’s why in addition to the
changes on our careers page and a local social media campaign, I wanted to invest the bulk of
our recruitment budget into a headhunting company. My first choice was Randstad because of
their expertise in this area. As of yet, including Randstad, I’ve gotten no response from any
company I’ve contacted. Therefore, I’m redirecting those funds into advertising beyond
Sydney, to where there is more potential qualified candidates. According to the job bank
outlook report, it’s a limited outlook to attract the talent we need in the Sydney area. We need
to expand our reach to the Halifax and Toronto areas. Hopefully we can attract the right
candidate who’s looking to relocate further east.
Aside from our company website, our flagship ad will appear on Career Beacon as a
“spotlight job posting.” Because we are not using Career Beacon ATS, this posting will be 15%
less, saving us $63.60. Anywhere that doesn’t charge for ad space, I’m posting our ad there
with a redirect to our website. Betterteam is a cost-effective multi-posting platform with a
$35.50 monthly rate. Betterteam reposts our ad across a spectrum of job boards on the
internet. Facebook’s reach is between 1500-4500 people locally, at a rate of $5 a day, so I’ve
budgeted for 60 days on Facebook. I’m also posting the federal Jobbank.ca.
Everything I do in social media world will link to our offer. Social media will be the bulk
of our free postings. I’ve been proactive with our company accounts and have been reaching
out to the communities we are already associated with and making new connections. I’ve
made networks through CAAA, a professional accounting association of academics, on social
media who are now connections on LinkedIn. I will share our ad in groups for financial
accountants on Facebook and I’m busy making us contacts among the accounting world on
LinkedIn. The IFAC and CPA Canada have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and
Instagram. I’m linking up our own accounts and sharing our ad with theirs. Connections in
those groups will be very helpful in finding qualified candidates.
I will do a paid advert on Twitter and LinkedIn, which should have a decent reach for
their rates. Twitter uses a pay for clicks system that varies in price; I will cut us off at the credit
limit I requested of $300, once as they approve it. I’ve also allocated $300 to post a job ad to
CAAA’s website. They are Toronto based so the pool is large and hopefully we will get some
interested applications.
I’ve ear marked $100 of our recruiting budget to support a successful hire for an
employee referral. I’m working out the details and will be sending out the email tomorrow
company wide. If anyone already working for us has a contact who better to sell the job than
someone who already words here. If we hire a referral the $100 earmarked will be paid out to
that employee. After 60 days the contest will expire and we can use the budget to fund another
20 days of Facebook ad space. Who couldn’t use another $100 dollars on their paycheck? It
should generate some buzz at the workplace.
Pasted below the recruitment plan is a screen shot of the changes proposed to our
careers page and our job ad. This is how it appears on our website. The “Apply Now” buttons
will take you to the bottom of the page for directions on how to apply.

EYE MARKETING

Recruitment Plan

My thinking is grassroots for this hire. We have a lot of young, eager students in the
down town core we can tap into. According to the job bank outlook report, job prospects for
administrative assistants is fair for the next 3 years in Halifax. If we can tap into the graduates
floating around down town, looking for better work, we shouldn’t have a hard time hiring when
we offer them a chance to grow inside our company as we do.
I went for a simple, classic style with the ad so I can fit the job ad on most free sites such
as the government job bank without too much altering. I will be heavily pushing social media
and word of mouth to generate leads for candidates with will minimize cost. Aside from a few
paid ads on Facebook and Linkedin, the majority of my plan will cost us nothing. We can hold
the paid ads up for about 2 months, on our budget, which should be plenty of time to find a
good candidate to hire. With word of mouth on social media, I’m looking to spread the word
on all the platforms at our disposal.
I have a kajiji job ad for free, as long as we don’t repost it too often. Kajiji is popular
among job seekers in Halifax and should produce suitable candidates. The federal Job Bank
might snag some out of work qualified candidates. A help wanted sign in our window is also
cheap and effective in our part of town, as the traffic is heavy on Barrington.
Most of the budget will be spent on ads for social media sites. Facebook is 5$ a day for
decent reach (up to 5200 people a day in Halifax) and LinkedIn at $195 for a month of ad time.
Facebook ads will run until the position is filled or the budget is used up - which gives us 57 days
at the most on Facebook. Sending out daily tweets, Facebook/LinkedIn messages and
Instagram shots will cost us nothing.

Cost Breakdown

Platform Cost
Facebook $285.00
LinkedIn $195.00
Betterteam $35.50
Help Wanted Sign $4.40
Jobbank.ca $0.00
Kajiji $0.00
Twitter $0.00
Instagram $0.00
*All prices as retrieved from contacting respective websites.

 Total cost is $519.90 + $77.99 (Tax) = $597.89

 We are $2.11 under budget.
