I’m Nimish, a sophomore at Brown concentrating in APMA-CS &
Economics. I’ve done research in financial engineering to minimize
climate change impact. I’ve taken linear algebra in high school, and have used it extensively in classes such as Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence. I
n terms of programming experience, I’ve taken the two classes
mentioned above, along with Functional Programming, and Data Structures. I will be taking Software Engineering and Data Science this semester. I’m also TAing Data Structures this semester. For professional experience, I interned at Quicken Loans last summer, as an SWE intern. Here, I began to learn the limitations of current technology and programming tools, leading me to be more interested in quantum computing.
I learned that Quantum Computing allows information transfer to
be much faster, as data is encoded into bits that can represent more than just a 0 or 1. We can do things such as cracking RSA encryption. I’d like to learn more at this camp about this topic, along with other topics such as applications in data science and optimization problems.
