Dars-e-Quran (Week 4)
Teacher: Imam Asim Hussain

• Gathering in Allah’s house and studying the quran is Ja’iz. The result
is that Allah sends tranquility upon them. Furthermore, Mercy
envelopes them whilst the Angels are amongst them in the gathering.
(Muslim and Abu Dawood)
• There is no greater barakah than the quran
o It can bring the dead back to life
• Allah does the zikr of those who study and recite the quran
o This proves that khatmul quran is Jaiz
• Whoever yearns to listen to one verse of the Quran, it will be written
for him one deed and multiplied. Whoever recites the quran, it will
come as a noor (light) for that person on the day of Qiyamah
(Musnad Imam Ahmed).
o We don’t read the quran much, but we should at least attempt to
listen to it.
• Hadith Qudsi (Hadith in which Allah tells Nabi SAW what to say and
our Habeeb tells it in his own words):
o Abu Saeed narrates: The lord Al-Mighty has said: Whoever the
Quran occupies from asking me, I will give him greater than the
one who is asking me.
o Open the quran and recite it and Allah will give you everything
else
o “The greatness of Allah’s speech over all speeches is like his
greatness over all greatness”
• Syedna Abu Zar asked the Prophet SAW for advice (Sahih Ibn
Hibbaan):
o The Prophet replied:
▪ I advise you to fear Allah (Taqwallah)
o Abu Zar asked for another advice:

▪ The reply was to recite the Quran, for it will be a Noor for
you on this earth and in the heavens.
• Syedna Jabir narrates:
o The quran will intercede & its intercession will be accepted.
Whoever puts the Quran in front of him (honor and respect it), it
will take him to heaven and whoever puts it behind him
(disrespect towards the quran) it will take him to hell.
• Whoever recites the Quran and acts upon it: their parents will be
crowned with a crown whose light is brighter than the sun.
• The people of the Quran are the people of Allah and the ones closets
to him.
• Bishar Ibn Harith Al-Hafi:
o One night he was drunk, on his way home he noticed a piece of
paper with the words of Bismillah. He said how can the name of
Allah be on the floor? He cleaned the paper and put it in a high
place.
o He had a dream that night where a voice said to him, Oh Bishar
you have raised and upheld my name, now I will uphold you
name.
o He did Taubah the next morning and became one of the most
famous Gnostics in tareeqah.
• We should ask through the Quran.
• The people of the quran will be able to take 10 people (from upon
whom hell is mandatory) to heaven
• It is better to study one verse of the Quran than pray 100 rakahs of
Nafl (Hadith)
• Whoever recites 10 verses before bed will not be written amongst the
Ghafileen (people who are heedless).

Virtues of reciting surah Fatiha & other surahs:

• Abu Saeed Ibn Muallah said he was once praying in the masjid and
the Prophet SAW called him and he did not answer. After prayers he
came to Nabi SAW and apologized to which the prophet SAW

replied, did Allah not command you to reply to Allah & his
Messenger when they call upon you.
• The prophet then stated he would teach him the greatest surah before
he left the masjid. He proceeded to teach the seven greatest verses
(Surah al-Fatiha)
• The house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited, the devil runs away
from such houses.
• Everything has a spearhead; the spearhead of the Quran is Surah
Baqarah.
o Inside this surah is a verse which is the greatest verse of the
quran, Ayat ul Kursi.
o Allah ended surah Baqarah with 2 verses that came from the
Arsh of Allah. Teach these 2 verses to your household:
▪ The last two verses of the Surah (verse 284-285).
• Whoever memorizes the last 10 verses from Surah Al-Kahf, will be
saved from the evil of Dajjal (Nasaee).
• Whoever memorizes the first 3 verses from Surah Al-Kahf, will be
saved from the evil of Dajjal (Tirmidhi).
• The heart of the quran is Surah Yaseen
o Recite Yaseen upon your dead.
• Whoever recites Yaseen at night for the sake of Allah, Allah will
forgive him. (Imam Malik)
• There is a surah in the quran with 30 verses, it will intercede for a
person until he is forgiven. This surah is surah Al-Mulk.
o Recite this at a person’s grave, for it will save him from the
punishment of the grave. (Tirmidhi)
o I wish that every Mu’min memorizes this surah in their hearts
(Hakim)
• Whoever wishes to see clearly on the day of judgement, he should
recite surah Infitaar.
• Whoever recites surah Zilzaal will receive the reward of reciting half
of the Quran.

• Whoever recites surah Ikhlaas will receive the reward of reciting a
third of the Quran.
• Whoever recites surah Kafiroon will receive the reward of reciting a
quarter of the Quran.
• Whoever recites surah Takaathur will receive the reward of reciting
1000 verses of the Quran.
• Syedna Aysha narrates that there was a man on a journey who used to
recite surah Ikhlaas in all his prayers. Upon asking the man why he
did this, he replied because it talks about Allah and he Loves Allah.
The prophet replied: tell this man that Allah loves him as well.

• The virtues of surah Falaq & Naas:
o These are the 2 best Surahs.
