Create and manage view lters


You can create lters at the account level, and then apply them to one or more views.

You can create lters at the view level that apply only to that view, and you can manage account-level
lters that have been applied to the view.

Permissions
Users who have Edit permission at the account level can:

• Create/edit lters at the account level


• Create/edit lters at the view level
• Apply lters to any view in the account
Users who have Edit permission at the view level can:

• Apply existing lters to or remove them from that view, but cannot create new lters or edit existing
lters

Create a lter at the account level


To create a lter at the account level:

1. Sign in to Google Analytics. .


2. Click Admin , and navigate to the account in which you want to create the lter .
3. In the ACCOUNT column, click All Filters.
4. Click + Add Filter. (If this button is not visible, you do not have the necessary permission.)
5. Enter a name for the lter.
6. Select Prede ned to select from the prede ned lter types.
7. Select Custom to construct a custom lter from the options we provide. If you create a custom
lter, consult our de nitions of the lter elds.
8. From the Available views list, select the views to which you want to apply the lter, then click Add.
9. Click Save.

By default, view lters are applied to the data in the order in which the lters were added. So, if there
are existing lters for a view, your new lter is applied after them. Follow the instructions to change the
lter order for a view, below.

Create a  lter at the view level


To create a lter at the view level:

1. Sign in to Google Analytics. .


2. Click Admin , and navigate to the view in which you want to create the lter .
3. In the VIEW column, click Filters.
4. Click + Add Filter. (If this button is not visible, you do not have the necessary permission.)
5. Select Create new Filter.
6. Enter a name for the lter.
7. Select Prede ned to select from the prede ned lter types.
8. Select Custom to construct a custom lter from the options we provide. If you create a custom
lter, consult our de nitions of the lter elds.
9. From the Available views list, select the views to which you want to apply the lter, then click Add.
10. Click Save.

Change the lter order for a view


1. Sign in to Google Analytics. .
2. Select the Admin tab and navigate to the view in which you want to create the lter .
3. In the VIEW column, click Filters.
4. Click Assign Filter Order, select the lter you want to move, then click Move up or Move down. Click
Save when you are nished.
5. If you want to remove a lter from the view, click remove in the row for that lter.

Add existing lters to or remove them from a view


1. Sign in to Google Analytics. .
2. Click Admin , and navigate to the view in which you want to add or remove lters .
3. In the VIEW column, click Filters.
4. Click + Add Filter.
5. Select Apply existing Filter.
6. Add or remove the lters as necessary.
7. Click Save.
