With this letter, I hereby would like to express my motivation to join this project as
algae scientist.

I graduated from Faculty of Biology Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in November

2017. During my prior studies, algae caught my attention. I found algae as a unique
creature. From its variety of lifeform to its benefits and potentials makes me want to dig
deeper. Then, I took several subjects such as plant tissue culture and phycology to broaden
my knowledge and practical skills in algae research. Furthermore, I chose Arthrospira
maxima (Spirulina) as research object for my undergraduate thesis. Thus, I believe I’m a
suitable candidate for this position for several reasons.

First of all, I have excellent laboratory skills in microbiology, especially in microalgae

cultivation. It is proven by several research related to algae. I able to cultivate algae from
lab-scale cultivation, pilot-scale cultivation to mass-scale cultivation. Moreover, my
undergraduate thesis research took place in Nogotirto Algae Park and biotechnology
laboratory of the Faculty of Biology UGM. In addition, I was an intern at Yogyakarta Health
Laboratory Center, precisely in the microbiology laboratory. This experience ensures my
laboratory skills in microbiology, especially on microalgae cultivation.

Second, I have supporting skills which help me to fit into this position. My English
proficiency is decent enough, proven by TOEFL ITP certificate with score 547. Previously I
joined International Summer Course in Advanced Marine Biology at Nagoya University. In
addition, I have strong organizational skills and I have the willingness to learn. Therefore, I
managed to excellently complete the task given to me even if I had to adapt to the new
concept and ideas.

I extremely interested in this position. My main purpose is to deepen my practical

skills and knowledge in algae research and cultivation. The skill I’ll learn from this project
would be useful for my future research and study related to algae.

In brief, I strongly believe that I am a suitable candidate for this position. My previous
experience in algae research, practical skills, and supporting skills are the main reasons
why I should accept to this position. I would be honored if you decided to approve my
