Number 20, Neibolt streets

I already know this was a bad idea, as I stand in front of the mossy and
abandoned house my stomach churn. I can feel the air getting denser, closing
around me. I don’t understand what make me decide to follow Jason here to the
abandoned house, I can still remember Jason dare, it rang through my heads like
wind brushing through a trees.

Everything start out as a rumour in class, the house on top of the hill have always
been a large controversies, some say the house was haunted by a demon that
came straight from hell, some say it was first a mental asylums where the insane
was experimented on. Of course being the sceptical person that I am, I
dismissed all of these theories. Most of these rumours died down after a few
weeks of course, like all school rumours do. These past few month though, near
the Thirty-first of October, there was suddenly an outbreaks of these rumours.

My first encounter with these stories was when a kid in my class show up with a
ragged and badly cut school’s uniform, everyone including me thought that this
was some sort of jokes, everyone have a good laugh for a while but the kid
stares at everyone with bulging eyeballs, he looked as if he have just been
stranded on an island. Bags under his eyes, his legs was fill with cuts, the cuts
looked fresh and dirt, some specs of dirt was still dotted around his ankles. He
looked messy and beat up, did he have a small encounters with the school
bullies?

“The houuuuse, onnnn the strstreet” The boy stuttered frantically, his teeth
chattering, looked of madness in his eyes. The whole class stop laughing, the
mood of the class suddenly change, I know, I wasn’t suppose to take what he is
saying seriously but I can’t help but edging closer toward him, interested by what
he have to say.
“I was walking to school, I use a different route this times since there was a lot of
traffic” he countinue, teeth still chattering but more calmly this times “The road
was abandoned so there's not much people, I then came across the House On
Top Of The Hill.”

I rolled my eyes at that, why does everything have to be about the houses, my
interest starting to fade, sure the houses is a little beat up but apart from that
everything is normal, not wanting to be ignorance though beckons him to
continue, unlike me the whole classes looked interested, staring at him with their
jaws gap open.

“I forgot to do my homework last night, since I was late, I scribble across the
page as fast as I could. In a hurried, I trip across a small rock, my books and
pens flew across the abandoned roads.”

The stories was still very passive, despite the nagging feeling in my stomachs, I
feel as if my hearts have stop beating, my face went pale and my hand is starting
to get colds. It felt as if I was really there, with him.

“As I hurried to pick up my books, someone grab my hand,-“ he was disrupt when
the teacher walk in.

“Peter, why is your clothes ripped” My histories teacher’s voice was thick and
lace with a British accent “Go to the nurse and borrow some clothes”

Peter copied and quickly rush out of the class, the strange nagging in my
stomach began to subside, the pain in my gut began to fade. As the class went
on, the perception of times is as slows as I can possibly imagine, the clocks
seem to be moving as slows as ever, my curiosity seem to get the better of me, I
quickly tear a piece of paper out of my notebook and hastily scribble on the note.

I passed it to Peter, trying to hide the note as much as I can, I never usually pass
notes in classes, I probably am the most behave student in the class but
something keep urging me to find out the rest of the story, it easily get the better
of me though.
As the note went to Peter desk, he quickly read the note, before he could write
down anything though, Mr. Robert grab the notes out of his hand, luckily he didn’t
read it though and just crumble it up and thrown it in the trash.

He magically know it me and ask “Jack are you passing notes in my classes ?”

“No” I said cautiously through gritted teeth trying to find a way out of this.

“And now you’re lying?” Mr. Robert asked, getting dangerously close.

“It depend on how you define lying” I mumble, desperately trying. I excel in all of
my classes, I am not going to lose that, just because of some notes passing. I
can feel my bloods boil at just that thought.

“I define lying as not telling the truth, what about you?” He asked, challengingly.

“Shaping your body in a horizontal position” I suggest, I immediately regret

saying what I just said.

Mr. Robert ears turn red, his eyebrows was furrowed together, his eyes became
a beady shape of brown and the redness from his ears have spread to his bald
head.

“See.Me.After.Class.Jack” He said punctuating each word with a evil glare.

I sigh, I am never going to find out the end of the stories. After classes I was
given a two smack on the hand and hundred lines of I will not lie. Walking out of
the school gates, I see Jason and Katie. They were my best and probably only
friends.

“Wow, the one and only Jack have to stay after classes” Jason said sarcastically,
while Katie shove him in the rip, I just roll my eyes. Me and Jason live on the
same block so we were quite close, Jason house is right next to mine. Katie
houses is in the opposite direction so we usually went to her house, after school.
Her parent were the type of overprotective one, the scare of kids at schools
having “Bad Influence” on her so she basically a loner.
Her house is one of though house that looked like a giant Barrie houses, so
perfect and organised. Me and Jason walk next to each other on the sidewalk,
Kathie have already leave to went to her house. As we were walking down the
road, I came up with a bad idea.

I have no idea what went into me but I decided to change my route a little bit.

“Jason?” I ask, staring at him.

“Hmm” Jason hum back.

“Let use the Neibolt road instead”

Jason looked shock, horrified even. If Jason was drinking something he probably
was going to spit it out.

“Are you insane!?” He yelled “ Did you see what happen to Peter?” Jason
continue to frantically yelled a thousand question per second at me.

“Do you actually believe him?” I said, rolling my eyes sarcastically. “He probably
just rip his clothes and made up a stories to gain popularity.” Despite what I said I
am clearly lying to myself, I believed Peter and want to see if the same thing
would happen if we walk near the house. I don’t even know why I am doing that
but maybe it an act of self redemption?

As my shoes scuttle across the dusty and I uncared for road of Neibolt,
everything was fine until we came across the abandoned house, the house was
even scarier then how Peter described it, the vines was slithering around the
rusted iron gates doors, giving the vines the appearance of snakes slithering
around the doors, the tree that stood in the middle of the so called “garden” was
dead and wither up, the lawn was uncared for and wild grasses have start
growing, I can even see some mice running across the lawn. The houses was
especially beat ups though, the bench was broken the roofs was pathetically
water damage, moss have began to grow around the houses, there was also
some mushrooms.
“Jack” a raspy voice croak my names.

I immediately spun around, Jason have already gone to explore the woods,
searching for the voice.

“Jason?” I ask, spinning around sharply trying to find the blondes boy, the raspy
voice was getting louder closing around me, I can feel myself physically choking
for airs. I tried to make a dash for it but when I bump into something hard and
bumpy. I looked up only to see a humanoids looming over me, his shoulder was
like a grim reaper scythe, reaping the soul out of me, the humanoid, no even that
cannot describe him, Monster isn’t even an accurate term to describe this
creature, the creature cannot be describe by words, the creature was an
abomination, if I wasn’t frozen with fears I would have puke right then and there.

Shaking a bit I began to run as fast as I could, Adrenaline flushing me as I run

across the houses, dirt and dust flew behind me as I ran across the houses.
Screaming at the top of my lungs. I can feel the monsters right behind me. My
heart was beating so fast that it hurt. The airs was cold and freezing my lungs.
Just suddenly as The Abomination appears before me he quickly disappeared,
as I bump into Jason.

We both groan as we stand up and wipe the dirt of our clothes, Jason looked at
me with confusion and worries, he help me up from the ground while raising his
eyebrow.

“Are you okay” He ask “I was exploring the house, when I heard you screaming,
you was running around like crazy”.

“Am fine” I lied, “Just tired from schools”

Humiliated after the event, I just want to get away from the houses as fast as I
could, fears is starting to engulf me, after arriving homes I just went up to my
room and shut the doors, I didn’t even bother to put my bag away, throwing the
backpack into the corner of the room.
I try to take my mind of the event by studying, I skip dinner not feeling like eating
anything, the image of the Abomination is still imprinted in my head, even if I
close my eyes for one second blinking the creature would haunted my mind,
taking control of my thought, driving me insane. As I furiously flip through the
pages of my textbooks, I heard a loud BANG!

Everyone by now was deeply asleep, I am the latest person in the house to ever
turn off the light, I cautiously looked around the room, before another loud Bang
make me jump out of the chair I was sitting on. Needing the Creature that I saw
at the house to get out of my mind, I immediately went straight toward the closet,
the origin of the noise, my hand reach shakily for the knob, the doors suddenly
sprang open though as a humanoid figure tackle me, pushing me to the ground,
fill with rages, I kick the humanoid away from me, I felt things that I never felt
before, a sudden and aggressive energy, it pulse through my bodies making me
felt stronger than ever before.

The Humanoid suddenly shriek, rolling around on the floors, suddenly he burst
into flames and all was left was ashes.

It has been weeks since I defeated the humanoid creatures, the rumours and
stories of the Neibolt houses began to spread, things was more serious now
since kids have started to gone missing, the schools have to start having curfew
times and the police have to get involved.

The schools was overtaken by these rumours, how the houses was haunted by
ghost, a demon lived there and there was also insane theories, like that is a
houses of a serial killer. Despite being face to face with the Abomination, near
the Neibolt houses. Trying my best to keep calm and concentrate on my tasks, all
I could think about is the Creatures that I came indirect confrontation with at the
Neibolt houses. The nagging feeling was still deep inside my gut, the more I think
about it the more the creature seem to take control of my mind, in the dark when
theirs is no one, I can still see the Creatures in my dreams. All of the dreaded
feeling began to come back.

As I stood in classes, times have never seem to past more slowly then now. The
hand on the clock seem to have been frozen, not moving at all, I twirl my finger
around, a strand of hairs, playing around nervously with it. Since I encounter the
Creatures, my relationships with Jason and Kathie isn’t the same, I can felt
myself getting more distances away from them, the more I tried to patch up or
repair my relationships with everyone the more it seems to just wither and died,
rotting away.

Flipping my fountain pen around my desk, as I stare at the chalkboard, that is

feel with writing, the letters was curly, hard to read, and the dusted mark the the
chalk left behind it paths isn’t helping. Finally after what felt likes entirety the bells
finally ring, signalling that it is hometimes. I hated the school's belt, the noise that
it make feel eerie and unsettling.

Walking out of the classrooms, I can already see Jason and Kathie waiting
outside the school iron fence gates, like usual. Every steps I walk felt heavy and
unsupported, my back was slightly bent, from the effort f carrying my leathers
bag. The school's yard was empty, almost every student have quickly
abandoned the yard.

The walks back to my house was strange and unfamiliar, it is as if the road have
somehow reshape itself to lead somewhere else. We have small chat while we
walk, Kathie was using her phones to check on something when suddenly,
someone run by and knock her down, her phone fall down the storm drain and
the waters began to pushes the phone further and futher away, the phone was
like a small boats zooming across the waters with delicates speed.

It took Kathie a while to come back to her sense, she immediately tried to chase
after the phones, with speeds never seen before, me and Jason follow her in a
flash. All of our effort seem to be useless though as the phone fall into the drains.

“No” Kathie yelled, her hand thrusting desperately, trying to grab the phone.

Shockingly, I just realise where we were, looking at the streets sign, I came back
to my sense. Number 20, Neibolt streets. The word looked like ink, moving
around the boards.
Before I could alerted them, I heard a chilling voice whispering into my ears, the
voice was raspy, shocking my ears. I felt as if my ears is bleeding from just
hearing this voice, it seem to be sinister, like a wild hungry fire, engulfing
everything in it path.

“Hello Jack, you’ve comeback” the voice chuckle, it what came out to me sound
more like a screeches “I need you to pass on the messages”. The voices said
chillingly, haunting my nightmare.
