METHOD IN ELT
C CLASS

Short Discussion of “Who is Learners?”

Each student has a different character, starting from the way they learn, the abilities,
needs of students, personalities and attitudes. There are three categories of students, including
teaching for children, teaching for teenagers and teaching for adults. Teachers must recognize
students well even though it is often difficult to assess the factors involved, for example, this
method is suitable for student A but not for student B, because each student has a different
character. In research, the factors that affect student skills are the tactics and characteristics of
good students, those who want to do homework given by the teacher.

In the classroom it is important for students to be involved in the learning process.

There are some characteristics of good students including:
1. Students who listen, good students don't just pay attention, but really want to listen to the
learning topic or the teacher's instructions well.
2. Students experimenting, students who want to try and dare to take risks.
3. Students who ask questions, students ask questions by thinking about relevant topics.
4. Willingness to think about how to learn, students who have the will to learn independently
in understanding or ways for them to learn.
5. Willingness to accept correction, good students want to accept any correction from the
teacher to make themselves better students.

One of the most important things a student must have is motivation. Students must
have a strong motivation because with the motivation of students will always be eager to
learn to make himself better and learning goals more successful. Motivation is built by each
individual, but the teacher still plays a role in inspiring students and is responsible for the
motivation of their students.

English learning has different basic abilities, including, beginner, intermediate and
advance, therefore the needs of each student must be different. Teaching must also be
adjusted to the age level of students, such as teaching children, adolescents or adults. Student
children tend not to be able to learn seriously, for that it takes a cheerful teacher and how to
teach can be given a number of games that make students not easily bored when receiving
lessons. Teenagers do not like to appear stupid in front of their classmates and do not like
skills, teachers provide a way to approach themselves and provide motivation to students.
And for adult learners they have a high level of anxiety in the learning process, teachers from
this age group will implement discussions or share experiences with their friends. Overall
teachers must have the ability to provide and apply appropriate learning materials and good
teachers are able to balance lessons seriously with activities that are more entertaining
because they are needed by students.
