2. INCOMPETENT (adj) – [अयो ] not having the necessary skills to do something successfully
● Synonyms – Inept, Substandard, clumsy
● Antonyms – Veteran, Seasoned, Virtuoso, proficient , Adept, adroit
● Examples –
1. The constitution says, an incompetent president can no longer serve, but it does not clarify that who
should make that determination.
2. People condemned the incompetent government on the grounds of restrictions applied on the
freedom of their expressions.
4. TEMPERATE (adj) – (in terms of climate = a moderate climate i.e. neither too hot nor too cold) & (in terms
of behaviour = mild and calm i.e. not extreme in opinion or other habits)
● Synonyms – Controlled, Disciplined, Abstemious
● Antonyms - Extreme, Severe
● Examples –
1. Why are you shouting? Please be more temperate in your language.
5. IDIOSYNCRASY (n) – [ गत िविश ता] a distinctive or particular behaviour that makes a person different
from others
● Synonyms – (in positive sense - Specialty, Peculiarity, Trait, Attribute)
(in negative sense – Bizarreness, Queerness)
● Antonyms – Normalcy
● Examples –
1. The home’s colourful idiosyncrasy made it stand out in the neighbourhood of white houses.
2. Although they are identical twins, their idiosyncrasies allow you to tell them apart.
It was unanimously decided at the symposium that the team captain was too incompetent for holding that
post. As a result, he was sent home the very next day. Any of us would have panicked if we had been in that
situation but being temperate in hard times had always been his idiosyncrasy.
A lot of people tried to sully his image, yet he managed to maintain a sanguine attitude towards his future.
His propensity towards cricket had never diminished. After the ineluctable practice of 12 months, he again got
his place back in the team. And when he played for the first time after these months, he performed his best
leaving the whole stadium flabbergasted.
