Present Continuous (Part 1)

She is driving to work


Dia sedang mengemudi mobilnya ke tempat kerja.
Diana is in her car. She is on her way to work. She is driving to work.
This means:
She is driving, at the time of speaking. The action is not finished.

Diana di dalam mobilnya. Dia dalam perjalanan ke tempat kerjanya. Dia sedang mengemudi mobilnya ke tempat kerja.
Hal tersebut maknanya:
Dia sedang mengemudi sekarang, pada saat berbicara. Tindakan belum selesai.

Dalam Present Continuous, kita menggunakan pola ‘is/am/are’ + ‘-ing’

I am doing something = I’m in the middle of doing it; I have started doing it and I haven’t finished yet.
Saya sedang melakukan sesuatu = saya di tengah-tengah melakukannya, saya sudah mulai melakukannya dan saya
belum selesai

Examples (contoh):
 Please don’t make so much noise. I’m trying to work. (not “I try to work”)
Tolong jangan ribut. Saya sedang bekerja

 Let’s go out now. It isn’t raining anymore. (not “It doesn’t rain anymore”)
Mari kita pergi, sekarang sedang tidak turun hujan.

 (at a party) Hello, Jane. Are you enjoying the party? (not “do you enjoy”)
(di sebuah pesta) Halo, Jane. Apakah Anda menikmati pesta ini?

 “Where is your sister?” “She’s having a shower” (not she has a shower)
“Dimana saudara perempuanmu?” “Dia sedang mandi”
