YOUNG LEARNERS

TERM END ASSIGNMENT (after Phase 5)

Q1. Which do you think is the best form of error correction? Why? (Word limit 300)

There are three options are available to correct the errors. Those are Self-Correction, Peer Correction
and Teacher Correction. I think Self-Correction is the best form to correct the error. I'm providing the
reasons below:

In the other correction methods students have to depend to others to correct their mistakes. But in
self correction they are independent. Teacher is not with them always so practicing on self-correction is
the best one. They can find their own mistakes so it helps them to avoid those mistakes in future. Also
they can find out their every error for that student have enough time to correct. But when teacher correct
the mistakes time may be run out because teacher is correct other students error too. Also there is no
assurance that teacher can found out all the mistakes done by the students.

When correcting their self errors they are listening to themselves so they can get some new idea on the
mistakes also they can have enough to time collect their thoughts. When seeing their own mistakes it
makes them more responsibility and awareness on learning language. They may be try to avoid the errors
in future when seeing the lot of errors or silly errors.

When teacher or peer correcting the errors, students may feel less confident if they found out too many
mistakes. It will lead to reduce their confidence on their learning. But when they are correcting
themselves it increase their confidence on learning. They can also understand in which part they are
making mistakes more and in which they can need more clarity and attention. Self correcting practice will
help them to solve real life problems. They can resolve their own problems and mistakes without
depending on others.

For the above said reasons I will say Self-Correction is the best form of error correction.

The self-correction creates the language awareness of the students. It makes the student confident
in class. The teacher needs to ensure that the students have enough language awareness.
