Handicraft

– more precisely expressed as artisanal


handicraft, sometimes also called artisanry, it
is a type of work where useful and decorative
devices are made completely by hand or by
using only simple tools.

Artisanship

– is a skilled manual worker who makes items


that maybe functional or strictly decorative,
including furniture, clothing, jewelry,
household items and tools.

Handicraft industry

– is important because it contributes income


for our country.

Nature

– has bestowed on our country vast areas of


forest and seas where we may derive our raw
materials that is why we need to develop our
handicraft industry.

ROLES OF HANDICRAFT

1. Our country has lavish forest which is sources of


various raw materials for handicraft making.

2. The government has developed a program


for putting up small and medium size
industries including handicraft making.

3. Handicraft making has produced middle


level man power with world class skills and
competitiveness that generated dollars for
the country.

4. Handicraft is a productive hobby. It gives


pleasure and makes use of leisure time
wisely.

5. It offers opportunity for you to be creative


and economically productive.
SAFETY MEASURES IN SCHOOL SHOPS

– When engage in handicrafts and other


home industries in the shop always observe
safety measures. In handling indigenous
materials observe strictly then or smoking
regulation.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES FOR SHOP

1. Remove watches and other jewelry when


working in the shop.

2. Clean up saw dust.

3. Always use cutting tools properly.

4. Pay attention to your own work.

5. Do not leave tools unattended.

6. Use proper clothing such as apron when working.

7. Clean tools and machines after using them.

8. Clean spilt water or oil promptly.

9. Report any accidents to your teacher.

10. Avoid too much eye contact with strong


chemicals.

11. Study very well how tools in your shop


should be used.

12. Tools should be stored where they can be


readily found out and checked.

13. Tools should be grouped together


according to use.

14. Always place heavy tools at the bottom of


the storage area to prevent them from
dropping.

15. The teacher should discuss with students strict


observance for the safety program.

handicraft product and make a project plan
for it.
And it will be your project.
