INTRODUCTION

Solution plays big roles in an experiment, particularly during the conduct of a

chemical analysis. There are usually two ways to prepare a solution which are one is by
dissolving a weighted volume of solid in a solvent needed and the other is by diluting a
concentrated solution into the desired concentration. The method used to determine the
precise concentration of a solution is standardization.

Titration is the most widely used method for standardizing a solution. As a reference a
standard solution is needed for a standardization process. Standard solutions can be found in
two forms which are standard primary solutions and standard secondary solutions.
Standardization can be accomplished by titrating the prepared solution against a determined
weight of a suitable primary standard substance, other accurately known secondary solution
and also by direct reagent analysis.

Preparation of 1M NaOH stock solution

The amount of Sodium Hydroxide pellet, NaOH needed to prepare 500 millilitre of
1M NaOH was calculated and weight. The pellet then was transferred into 250 mL beaker
then 100 mL of distilled water was added into the beaker. After that, the pellet was stirred
until all were dissolved. The NaOH solution then was transfer into 500 mL volumetric flask
and finally was diluted using distilled water up to the mark of the flask. The flask was
labelled and cooled at room temperature. This solution was done by the lab assistant.
