TYPES OF SPLINTS

SPICA SLAB
CASTS
Slab covers only
POP encircles Immobilises limb with one surface of limb
entire Circumference trunk i.e spine
Mnemonic : S for Slab
Mnemonic : C for Cast Mnemonic: SPICA = SPI + CA S for 1 Surface
C for Circumference CAst around SPIne

Brace: a device fitted to something, in particular a weak or injured part of


the body, to give support.
Used in Cervical and upper thoracic spine disease.
Used in Scoliosis.
Used in : Fracture of Humerus
Used in fracture of Femur.
Used in Patella fracture
Displacement : S: Supination
