Conic Sections Standard Conic Sections: The conic sections,

circle, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, obtained
The conic sections are the curves in which a plane when the intersecting plane does not pass through
cuts a right circular double-napped cone. the vertex of the cone, are standard conic sections.

Degenerate Conic Sections: The point, the

straight line and the pair of intersecting lines
obtained by passing the plane through the vertex
of the cone are degenerate conic sections.
