Philosophy of Education

I want to become an educator because I believe that all children have the opportunity to
learn. No matter where a child begins, if they put their mind to something, it will not be long
before they grasp something new. I want to instill a growth mindset in the future generations of
the world, so that children can understand that they have the ability to reach their full potential.
Education is designed to set a foundation for a person’s future; however, it is always changing.
As a person gets older and encounters more experiences, there will always be more to learn. I
hope to help students understand that learning is important for growth. When children understand
that they have the ability to grasp anything with some hard work and dedication, it can help build
a love for learning that will last a lifetime.
A good educator is someone who will work to instill a love of learning in a child’s mind
through support, acceptance, and patience. This educator will support students by assessing their
individual needs and creating a lesson plan that caters to a diverse population. They will make
sure that students are supported through different educational levels, and work to help each child
grow at a rate that is unique to their own learning. As a future educator, I understand that it is my
job to help students grasp the material, and I plan to work as hard as I can to assess a child’s
current level and help them move forward to the next. I get to work as the bridge between the
child’s mind and the learning material, therefore, I plan to do this in a way that is individualistic
to a child’s needs.
I have seen that a student’s learning ability and potential are maximized when the
educator works to instill the power of “yet” within their minds. Children who believe that they
may not be the best yet, but have been taught a growth mindset, are more likely to be successful
in and out of the school environment. In my classroom, I plan to build a community of achievers
who work hard to improve themselves. I plan to include parents and families into my classroom,
so that the child can find support for learning whether they are in or out of the classroom.
Children who feel supported in all aspects of life will become braver when it comes to taking
risks and diving into new topics, therefore, building a supportive community is essential for
student success.
Teaching is an incredible rewarding career, as it allows an educator the opportunity to
change a student’s life. Whether the student comes into the classroom and grows socially,
emotionally, or academically, the educator gets the chance to put a positive impact into their
world. With my drive and passion for education, I know that I have the ability to help students
become the best that they can be. I am anxious to get the opportunity to support a child in the
classroom environment. Watching a child grasp something new is the most rewarding experience
in life, and I plan to make sure that I continue to help children grow.
