28 Cab Adjustment

28.1 General

During travel, the crane operator’s cab must be swung back-

wards into the transport position and the safety locks fitted (Z 41
367).

For crane operation and before fitting the counterweight, the

crane operator’s cab is folded into the operating position (Z 41
368).

RISK OF ACCIDENTS !
A maximum of three persons may be located in the crane
operator’s cab and on the cab support at the same time.

28.1.1 Slewing and Tipping the Crane Operator’s Cab

To provide a better overview of work with the crane, the super-

structure cab can be tilted backwards up to a maximum angle of
18° to 20° (Z 41 336).
-- The crane operator’s cab is slewed (swing cab / swinging
arm) by extending and retracting the upper dual cylinder (1).
-- The crane operator’s cab is tilted (swing swinging arm / su-
perstructure) by extending and retracting the bottom dual cyl-
inder (2).
-- The crane operator’s cab is raised and lowered (cab in trans-
port position) by extending and retracting the cylinder (3).
-- The crane operator’s cab is tilted (horizontal position / 20°
position) by extending and retracting the cylinder (4).

Before swinging the crane operator’s cab from the transport

into the operating position, the cab must be swung out up to
the stop (angle between the cab and swinging arm = 140°).
If this is not taken into consideration, there is a risk of colli-
sions between the crane operator’s cab and the counter-
weight support on the crane chassis as well as the silencer
manifold.

28.1.2 Switching the Swinging Arm to Free--Running Mode

In the event of a failure in the superstructure electrics or hydrau-

lics, it is no longer possible to swing the crane operator’s cab. In
this case the swinging arm can be switched to “free--running
mode”, the swinging arm can be folded over manually. The free--
running mode is enabled by opening the shut--off lever (5) (Z 41
337).
This is required to bring the crane operator’s cab into the trans-
port position or to enable access to the switch box “X2” on the su-
perstructure frame.

When opening the shut--off lever, the swinging arm could

fold out suddenly and in an uncontrolled fashion. Risk of
collisions and accidents! To avoid this, one operating
person must always be in the direct vicinity of the shut--
off lever in order to shut off the lever if the swinging arm
can no longer be braked manually.
Caution, there is a risk of crushing between the swinging
arm and superstructure !
Normally, you must make sure that this shut--off lever is
closed (Z 41 361).

28.1.3 Tilting the Crane Operator’s Cab with the Superstruc-

ture Engine Switched Off

To enable easier access to the crane operator’s cab in the trans-

port position, it can be tilted by approx. 8° with the superstructure
engine switched off.
The cab is tilted by loosening the springs (16) on the swinging
arm (17, Z 41 365).

When swinging the crane operator’s cab into the transport posi-
tion, the cab is tilted from 8° up to the transport stop with the su-
perstructure engine switched off.
The equipment is folded manually after the pressure has been
balanced in dual cylinder (1) (Z 42 768).
To balance the pressure button (15, “S67.3”) must be pressed
down and held (Z 42 769), the cab is set at “free--running”.

28.2 Swinging the Crane Operator’s Cab

Risk of crushing !
When swinging the crane operator’s cab into the operat-
ing and transport position, there is a risk of crushing be-
tween the swinging arm and superstructure frame and
between the cab and superstructure frame. Proceed with
appropriate caution.

28.2.1 Swinging the Crane Operator’s Cab into the Operat-

ing Position

Proceed as follows to swing the crane operator’s cab into the op-
erating position:

1. Release the ladder at the rear of the crane chassis from the
transport position “A”, fold out amd hook up to the side of the
cab support (position “B”) (Z 41 338).

-- If the crane is to be operated after the crane operator’s

cab has been slewed, the crane must be supported on
outriggers before the ladder is fitted.
-- Before fitting the ladder, check that both fore locks are re-
moved for subsequent locking of the ladder (Z 41 339).

2. To make sure that the crane operator’s cab does not swing
out of position when the crane is tilted to one side and once
the safety locks have been released, make sure that the
shut--off lever (5, Z 41 361) is closed.

Failure to close the shut--off lever could result in an acci-

dent !

The ladder is not yet secured ! Proceed with appropriate

caution !

4. Insert the two fore locks to lock the ladder to the cab support
and fold up into “crane operation” position (Z 41 340).

Before swinging the superstructure, make sure that the lad-

der is folded up. Risk of damage !

5. Release the safety locks of the crane operator’s cab. To this

end:
− Unhook safety belt (6) at point “A” on the cab support (Z 41
341).
− Unlock bolt (7) at point “B” on the cab support and remove
(Z 41 342).

6. Fold cab support out of the guide console (9) on the super-
structure frame (Z 41 344).
Press button (15, “S67.3”) on the superstructure frame (Z 42
770). “Tilt cab” is switched to ”free--running” mode, using
spring pressure the crane operator’s cab is folded out by
approx. 8°, the support (9) is released.

This guide console (9) must be free so that, during subse-

quent raising of the crane operator’s cab, no damage can be
caused to the platform and the support.

Folding out the crane operator’s cab in this way also enables ac-
cess to the swinging arm lock as well as access to the interior of
the crane operator’s cab.

7. Unlock bolt (10) at point “C” on the swinging arm support and
pull out to release the connection between the swinging arm
and superstructure frame (Z 41 345).

signal warns that the crane operator’s cab is not raised and that,
consequently, folding over of the cab is not allowed or not pos-
sible.

9. Press button (82) in the instrument panel and hold; the crane
operator’s cab is raised (Z 42 772).

28.2.2 Swinging the Crane Operator’s Cab into the Transport

Position

Before swinging the crane operator’s cab into the transport posi-
tion:
-- the counterweight or hoist 2 must be removed (cf. Sect. 9.4
of these operating instructions).
-- the crane operator’s cab must be brought into the horizontal
position (cf. Sect. 28.3 of these operating instructions).
-- the ladder must be folded into the rest position (Z 41 350).

If, during operation of the crane, the ladder has been secured
in point “B” on the cab support, it must be released from
point ”B” before the cab is swung into the transport position
-- and fitted in point “A” on the platform (as shown in picture
Z 41 350).

The crane operator’s cab is swung into the transport position

analogously in the reverse order of the sequence for swinging it
into operating position (Sect. 28.2.1).

When swinging the crane operator’s cab from the operating posi-
tion into the transport position, the following sequence must be
followed (Z 41 351):

1. With the crane operator’s cab in the operating position, fold

the swinging arm via the double cylinder (2).

2. With the swinging arm in the transport position, fold the crane
operator’s cab via the double cylinder (1).

from the different locking components:
− Safety lock swinging arm / superstructure (Z 41 352)
∗ on rail (12) on the superstructure
∗ on clamp (13) on the swinging arm
− Safety lock crane operator’s cab / superstructure (Z 41

The crane operator’s cab is lowered using cylinder (3, Z 41 357).

Proceed as follows:
With the superstructure engine running, press and hold button
(81) in the instrument panel, the crane operator’s cab is lowered
(Z 42 777).

After the crane operator’s cab is lowered, sensor (”S68”,

Z 42 778) is no longer switched. In this condition, the crane oper-
ator’s cab can no longer be folded or slewed. A warning is given
by indicator light (61) lighting up and warning buzzer (62, Z 42

6. Switch off the superstructure engine, leave the crane opera-

tor’s cab and close the cab door.
