STRENGTHS FINDER SELF-ASSESSMENT REFLCETION 2

The top five characteristics of me from the Strengths Finder assessment are: intellection,

competition, ideation, leaner, and communication (Gallup, Inc., 2018). The results are not

surprising to me and I can see these characteristics in myself. I like to think, and I am usually the

one asks a lot of questions in class. I like to compete with others. For example, I care about my

grade and peer pressure. I always check the highest score and the mean score to see where I am

at. Also, I am fascinated by ideas. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I am curious about

how people process information and how people shape their worldview. Besides, I love to learn

new information and knowledge makes me fulfill. Last, I love to communicate with other people.

I am outgoing and I like to share my ideas and listen to other people’s ideas. I think the results

accurately reflects my characteristics. On the other hand, I feel that I have a reasonably accurate

self-perception. However, as we develop, our experiences will keep shaping us. As a result, we

should be introspective about our lives and keep improving our strengths and working on the

weaknesses.

The assessment not only illustrates the top five strengths of me, it also provides

suggestions on how to develop these strengths and avoid some potential drawbacks. As a person

fascinated by new ideas, it is better for me to work with people that are analytical to complement

my ideation (Rath, 2017). As a person loves to compete, I should select work environments in

which I can measure my achievements. Meanwhile, I should let people know that being

competitive does not equate with putting others down. I should be caring and supportive instead

of being aggressive (Rath, 2017). Also, I should seek roles that require some form of technical

competency so that I can keep improving my skills and learning new information (Rath, 2017). I

think dental hygiene would be a great match. Besides, I learned that I may pursue advanced

degree in Philosophy, Psychology or Literature if possible (Rath, 2017). In addition, I should

keep improving my communication skills. Being a good listener is also important.

I think dental hygiene is a matching profession to my strengths. It requires

communication skills and critical thinking skills. I will continue to work hard toward the RDH

credential. After having enough clinical experiences, I probably will work toward a more

advanced degree either in Oral Biology or Public Health since I love to learn and strive to be

competitive. Personally, I will do more reading and travelling to discover and experience the

diverse world.
