Mountain Bike Riding
LOCATION:
Off-site: Lilydale – Warburton Rail Trail
DESCRIPTION:
Mountain bike riding is a team activity where campers can challenge their own skills while enjoying
the surrounding setting of Warburton Trail. This activity can be run on-site however in a limited area.
If this activity is off-site, care needs to be taken while travelling to the location.
AGE SUSTAINABILITY:
Year 7 and above.
RATIOS:
The activities ratios and qualifications have been taken from the Victorian Education Department
Cycling guidelines and the AAS for Cycling.
ACTIVITY STAFFING:
ADANAC Program staff have to run this activity because it is a specialised activity. If participant
numbers grow the user group may have to deliver extra staff to cover the activity ratio.

TEACHER INSTRUCTIONS:
ADANAC program staff are to explain safety precautions to the student’s on-site before travelling to
the Warburton Rail Trail. Before biking through the bike trail off-site, staff and students need to be
wary of motor vehicles while crossing to the Warburton Rail Trail. Also, ADANAC program staff are to
explain safety of riding behind students in a singular riding line. ADANAC program staff are to also
explain the mountain bike equipment and how to use them on the bike trail.
