2-9. Precautions for handling of the equipment

Please also take notes on the followings.
♦ The equipment is precision machinery. Please avoid vibrations or shocks during operation or
transportation as they could lead to a machine failure.
♦ Moving the equipment from a low temperature area to a wormer environment could cause dew
condensation. Operating the equipment with dew condensed inside could cause a failure
such as jam or may lead to malfunction of the equipment. When there is a possibility of dew
condensation, keep the power off and leave it for more than one hour before starting to operate
it.
♦ Do not place the equipment near devices that may emit strong magnetism (such as motor,
transformer, TV, speaker and magnet) as it might lead to failure or malfunction of the
equipment.
The equipment emits radio wave, which could interfere with the TV/radio reception.

2-10. Precautions on media (Paper roll and ink ribbon)

♦ Use of gloves (made of cloth) is recommended while handling the paper roll.
Sebum or dust on the paper may appear on the printed image as finger print or blemish.
♦ To store paper roll and ink ribbon, please avoid high temperature, high humidity and direct sun.
Please keep them at cool place for storage. Please also avoid sudden temperature shift as it
could cause dew condensation.
Operating the equipment using a media set (paper roll and ink ribbon) that may have dew
condensation could cause a failure of the equipment.
Use of once dew condensed media set (paper roll and ink ribbon) could cause a problem on
printed image such as blemish on the print (storage conditions are below 30 degrees C and
below 70% RH).

Please use only genuine type media set (paper roll and ink ribbon). Use of any
other type could cause malfunction or failure. Any request for repair caused by
media set that is not of the genuine type would not be handled under warrantee even
during warrantee period. A request for repair may not be accepted when genuine
type media set is not used.

‹ The space to place the printer must be larger than the printer bottom area and all four
feet must securely touch the surface of the place.
‹ Well-ventilated area, however, air must not blow directly into the printer from the front
side of the printer (print exit).
‹ The area where temperature can be kept between 15 and 35 degrees C and RH can be
kept within 20 and 80 %.
‹ Sufficient space to work around the printer is secured.
‹ Space at front to load ribbon and paper, space at rear and side for air ventilation and
cable handling is secured.

19-2-2. Registration of data
Select [Service Tool] then [Adjust]

Fig. 112 Fig. 113

* Serial No. (Registration of serial number at MAN PCB)

This is to register serial number of ASK at the memory of MAN PCB (Serial
number is pre-registered at the factory).
Registration of serial number may be needed when you replace MAN PCB.
* Printer ID (Registration of Printer ID)
To control more than 1 ASK printer by one host PC, setting of Printer ID is
required. Printer ID number should be from 0 to 7 (Up to 8 printers may be
connected to one host PC).

* MC
By entering the MC data name at the space provided for “MC”, the current setting
of the MC data value will be displayed.
MC Data names: HDVLT, CENTR, PA1TA, PASNS
* Read & Save MC
Setting data unique to each printer may be saved on PC.
The data will not be displayed on PC screen.
* Load MC data
Setting data saved on PC may be loaded back onto printer.

* Print count
A print counter is available. The print counter may be set and reset.
* This Print counter is different from permanent print counter in the PCB.
* Print head exchange
A print counter is available. The print counter may be set and reset.
By resetting this counter when you replace the print head, you would be able to
see how many prints have been made since the last exchange of the print head.
* Cutter exchange
A print counter is available. The print counter may be set and reset.
By resetting this counter when you replace the paper cutter, you would be able to
see how many prints have been made since the last exchange of the paper
cutter.

44
* HQ mode configuration
Printer is set to “HQ mode” temporarily. All prints are printed by “HQ mode”
until exiting from the “HQ mode” by manual or turning off and on the printer again.

<How data may be restored if data are lost such as by exchanging MAN PCB>
● If setting data had been saved on PC by ”Read & Save”, you will be able to
restore the setting data to the printer by “Load MC data”.
● If setting data are not saved on PC, data may be entered manually according
to the method described for “MC” from the data you will find on the Test Print
(page 3) which is included in the package of the printer.
Step 1: Enter data name at the space provided under “MC”.
Example: HDVLT
By entering the data name, current setting will be displayed.
Step 2: By allow keys, match the number to the data value of the Test Print.
Step 3: Click [Set] to register the data.
Step 4: Register serial number at the PCB (enter serial number at the space
under “Serial No. ” and click [SET] located right next to it).
Step 5: When printer ID needs to be registered, enter printer ID (default is “0”).
Step 6: When all are done, click [Finish] to go back to Start Screen.
