Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; La ilaha il-lal-Laahu Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar wa lil-Laahil
hamd!
Dear brothers and sisters, on this joyous occasion, I want to talk about gratefulness.
The Almighty says: “Remember Me, I remember you; Be thankful and not ungrateful.” [Qur’an 2:152].
Being thankful/grateful is an essential part of our faith and way of life. There are over seventy verses in
the Qur’an pertaining to thankfulness.
Yesterday, I read about a lady who had cancer. Cancer wants to monopolize my attention.
Natural tendency.
Look for color Red. How many things you saw that were green?
Whatever you focus on grows. Whatever you focus on, is your reality.
Where you live mentally matters more than where you live physically.
In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness.
Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal
with adversity, and build strong relationships.
People feel and express gratitude in multiple ways. They can apply it to the past (retrieving positive
memories and being thankful for elements of childhood or past blessings), the present (not taking good
fortune for granted as it comes), and the future (maintaining a hopeful and optimistic attitude).
Regardless of the inherent or current level of someone's gratitude, it's a quality that individuals can
successfully cultivate further.
Allah says “If you would calculate up the favors of Allah, never would you be able to enumerate them:
Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil ‘Aalameen. Was-salaatu was-salaamu alaa Khairil mursaleen. Muhammadin-
nabeey-yil Ummiy-yee, wa-‘alaa aalihee, wasah-bihee, aj-ma’een.
Ammaa ba’ad:
“Innalláha wa malaaikata yusallúna alan nabi. Yá ay yuhal latheena ámanu sallú alayhi wasalli mú tas
leema.
innaka hameedun majeed.”
SECOND KHUTBAH
Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; La ilaha il-lal-Laahu Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar wa lil-Laahil
hamd!
In one hadith, Prophet Muhammad said that “The best of deeds are small ones, repeated often.”
When you wake up, think about 3 things that are good in your life.
When you say Alhamdullillah in every Raka’ah, think about a blessing that you are grateful for.
Being grateful to Allah is a MUST. No doubt there. However, any talk about gratefulness is not complete
if we do not mention being grateful to people. The Prophet PBUH said “Whosoever is not thankful to
people is not thankful to Allah.”
I guess every married person should read this hadith every day. Our natural tendency is to find
everything wrong with our partner, instead of being thankful for the positives. I am not talking about
myself.
I wanted to thank the brothers and sisters who contribute to this mosques fund and made today’s Eid
happen. I pray to Allah for their health, happiness and maghfirah whether we know them or not. Allah
knows them.
Rabana Aatinah …
Soob’haanaka rabbikal Rabbil izzati ‘amma yasifoon, wasalaamun anil mursaleen, wal hamdu lil Laahi
Rabbil Aalameen
Brothers and sisters! My family and I, wish you all a joyous Eid Mubarak!
