• In recent years, there is a rapid development in the solid state light-

emitting diode (LED) materials which gave way for the next generation
data communication known as visible light communication.
• VLC has a promising future and it acts as a complement to the present RF
communication by achieving larger bandwidth and high data rate.

•Li-Fi is reffered as a light-based Wi-Fi. That is , it uses light instead of radio waves to
transmit information.
•Instead of Wi-Fi modems, Li-Fi would use transceiver-fitted LED lamps that can light
a room as well as transmit and receive information.
•Wi-Fi is great for general wireless coverage within buildings, and Li-Fi is ideal for
density wireless data coverage in confined area and for relieving radio interference
issues.
•So the two technologies can be considered complimentary.

• LED blinks according to modulated signal stream by the data entered in

keyboard and transfer at ultra high speeds to the photo detector.
•A receiver converts the tiny intensity changes into an electrical signal,
which is then converted back into a data stream and viewed in the
display.
