INTRODUCTION

Environmental science is a field that incorporates many elements of earth and life
sciences, whereas ecology is usually more focused on how organisms interact
with each other.
GREEK origin
01 OIKOS = household
LOGOS = study of...
Ecology is study of
02 interactions between non-

ECOLOGY living and living organisms.

Ecology view the locale
as integrated whole of

which are non-living,
producers, consumers
and decomposers
LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION
Ecology is an integrated and dynamic study of
environment . The definition is the study of the
interactions that take place among organisms
and their environment.

BIOGEOCHEMICAL CYCLE AND THE EFFECTS OF
HUMAN ACTIVITIES

HUMAN ACTIVITIES
1.Withdraw freshwater
2. Clearing vegetation and eroding soils
3. Polluting surface and underground
water
4. Contributing to climate change
HUMAN ACTIVITIES
1 . Adding excess CO2 to the atmosphere
HUMAN ACTIVITIES
1 .Contribute acid rain
2. Adding nitrous oxide to atmosphere
which can warm the atmosphere and
deplete ozone.
3.Releasing nitrogen into the
troposphere through deforestation.
HUMAN ACTIVITIES

phosphate from the earth to make
fertilizer.
2.Clearing forests
HUMAN ACTIVITIES
1 . Burn coal and oil
2.Releasing sulfur dioxide into the
environment
3.Refining sulfur containing petroleum
GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE AND HEALTH
CONCLUSION

The many specialties within ecology, such as marine, vegetation, and

statistical ecology, provide us with information to better understand the world
around us. This information also can help us improve our environment, manage our
natural resources, and protect human health.
