Catwalk of Claudia Schiffer

At only 28 years old, Claudia Schiffer has taken the term super model to a new dimension.
Borne on August 25, 1970, in Dusseldorf, Germany, Claudia is a beautiful blonde, a goddess with blue eyes and an
imposing height (182) cm. She has this kind of smashing, fresh ingenuity. She is like a flower: charming, smiling and
very well behaved, too.
The native German began her modeling career in 1987 when she was discovered in a German discotheque while still a
student. The one responsible for that is Michel Levaton, director of the Metropilitan model agency. Although Claudia’s
mother considered that she had to finish school first, several weeks after, Claudia went to Paris for photo tests. Her
launch was in the French “Elle”.
But the way to the top wasn’t easy. “We went to work for her day and night. We bet it all on her. I must say that she had
the stuff of a star. She was serious, she never said no, she’d get up early every morning, did not drink, did not smoke,
did not go out. The girl was a professional. She was 17, from a small town, and had a very limitated view of life. In a
way be became her surrogate parents”, explained Levaton.
An international superstar, the native German has graced the covers of more than 500 magazines, including “Elle”,
“Harper’s”, “Bazar”, “Voque” and “Cosmopolitan”. In addition to her editorial work for magazines throughout the
world, Claudia has strutted the runways for all the top designers and has been featured in campaigns for Chanel,
Versace, Valentino and Ralph Lauren among others. Claudia has also published two books, a pictorial entitled
“Memories” and a black&white coffee table book photographed by designer Karl Legerfeld.
She recently signed a multi-year contract with L’Oreal which is an unprecedented agreement in terms of dimension,
longevity and financial impact.
In spite of her celebrity, the woman who conquered Europe and cast a spell on the United States likes simple things:
Claudia drinks only mineral water and orange juice, her favorite sports are tennis, riding, skiing and also likes to dance.
In her free time she paints (mostly flowers and small animals) and reads. Claudia prefers wearing clothes signed Chanel
and her favorite smell is jasmine.
Beautiful and modest, Claudia Schiffer became the favorite supermodel of the Romanian public after her visit here last
year. In Calinescu’s talk show she seduced with her beauty and charmed with her intelligence. Claudia is an
unforgettable presence anywhere and anytime.

Describe a favorite sport or game that you practice, play or like watching

My favorite game is tennis and even if I’ve been playing it for 6 years I still love it. I also like watching it on TV and I
admire personalities such as” Andre Aggasi, Pete Sampras, Martina Hingis, Andrei Pavel or Adrian Voinea.
I begun to play tennis because my parents told me this sport is very important in shaping your body as well as in
developing your thinking ability. It is a pity that the coach simply ignored the ones who wouldn’t do it for performance,
as this game can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Tactically skilled and played with its feather light racquet and a light ball over a net on a big court, it can be as fast as
the ability of the players allow. Power and speed alone cannot dominate this game but wisdom, strategy, patience and
concentration can. It is very important because it develops our physical abilities such as movement, flexibility, mobility
and dynamism. It shapes our body harmoniously and helps us keep fit and healthy. Taking into account the moral-
intellectual side, tennis develops cooperation between players as well as team spirit (if played in pairs) and a spirit of
strategy and ingenuity.
Tennis originated in the 15th century France as indoor court tennis, and took its present form as lawn tennis in 1870. It
was first played in the U.S. in 1874. In 1877 England held the first Wimbledon Championship.
Tennis, a racquet game is played on a rectangular court by 2 or 4 players. The court, divided by painted lines into
sections is bisected by a net 3 and a half ft. The object of the play is to hit a hallow ball, made of cloth-covered rubber, 2
and a half inches and 2 oz in weight, over a net into the opposite court so that the opposite player is unable to return it.
The racquet has a metal, graphite or laminated wood frame with gut or nylon string, forming an oval “head”. It is about
27 in. long and 12 oz.
In tennis a point is scored by a player whose opponent is unable to return the ball within the baseline and sidelines on
his/her opponent side of the court. When a player has no points, the score is called 15. When he/she scores the second
point, the score is called 30. A third point is called 40 and if the player scores a fourth point he/she wins a game.
However, a player is awarded a game only if he/she has scored two more points than the opponent. If both players have
won 3 points (“40”) the score is called deuce. The next point scored by a player is called advantage for this player. After
winning at least 6 games, and beating one’s opponent by at least 2 games (or winning a tiebreak) the player wins a set.
The first who has 2 sets out of 3, or 3 out of 5 wins the match. Players alternate service after each game.
All in all, if you haven’t played tennis yet it’s high time you did it. It’s an extraordinary way to keep fit and enjoy
yourself even if there is a need for dexterity and strong-will.
